Devin

Thoughts on Devin for a girl? This name isn’t my typical naming style but I recently met a girl with this name and it really suited her and it has been on my mind since. I like that it is similar to my dad’s name and also that the meaning of “poet” isn’t gender specific.

I know this isn’t a name that is typical berry style and I’m not looking to ignite a “boys names on girls” arguement. Just want some general feedback

I’ve known a girl [name_u]Devin[/name_u] in the past. The name suited her. It’s not my style and not one of the unisex names I particularly like, my style or not, but it’s not bad.

I knew a girl named [name_u]Devin[/name_u] in middle school. Her name stood out to me in a good way, it sounds really cool and I think it makes a great name for a girl.

It’s ok. I honestly think there are better unisex names to choose from that have a fresher vibe. If you like [name_u]Devin[/name_u] maybe:

[name_u]Evan[/name_u]
[name_u]Emmett[/name_u]
[name_u]Ellis[/name_u]
[name_u]Ashton[/name_u]
[name_u]Dorian[/name_u]
[name_u]Darian[/name_u]
[name_m]Daley[/name_m]
Aven
[name_u]August[/name_u]
[name_u]Channing[/name_u]
[name_u]Chandler[/name_u]
[name_u]Hudson[/name_u]
[name_u]Hollis[/name_u]
[name_u]Holland[/name_u]
[name_u]Seth[/name_u]
[name_u]Shane[/name_u]
[name_u]Lennox[/name_u]
[name_u]Lane[/name_u]
[name_u]Luca[/name_u]
[name_u]Micah[/name_u]
[name_u]Peri[/name_u]
[name_u]Sheridan[/name_u]
[name_m]Wesley[/name_m]

I prefer it on a boy.

I much prefer [name_u]Devon[/name_u] to [name_u]Devin[/name_u], only because [name_u]Devin[/name_u] is a typo away from Devil and my mind picks up on things like that quite quickly. I don’t like [name_f]Violet[/name_f] (Violent) for the same reason. Although it’s not a big deal it would just irritate me. Anyway, I like the name - in the UK it would remind people of the place or [name_u]Devon[/name_u] custard, but that’s not a bad thing at all!

I think it’s a great girl’s name. I like the spelling devyn better for some reason. I knew a boy in middle school named devON so when I see devin my mind thinks girl name.

Not a fan…

I’ve known boys and girls named [name_u]Devin[/name_u], and it seems to suit both sexes just fine. My only issue with [name_u]Devin[/name_u] is that it does feel a bit dated.

I’m not really a fan of the [name_u]Devin[/name_u] spelling. I like [name_u]Devon[/name_u] on a boy, less so on a girl but I do think it could work for a girl.

I’ve met several kids named [name_u]Devin[/name_u], the majority being girls. I think the name is perfectly unisex. [name_u]Devyn[/name_u] and [name_u]Devon[/name_u] are the spellings I’ve seen on girls, though. [name_u]Devin[/name_u] is fine, I’ve just never seen it. I’m pretty neutral on the name since I’ve met so many, but it isn’t terrible and definitely works for girls.

Like it!..

I happen to really like this name. [name_m]Ive[/name_m] known males and females with the name and various spellings of it. Generally i see [name_u]Devyn[/name_u] on girls and [name_u]Devin[/name_u]/[name_u]Devon[/name_u] on boys but if i came across a girl named [name_u]Devin[/name_u]/[name_u]Devon[/name_u] i wouldnt give it a second thought.

[name_u]Devin[/name_u] is cute. I think it experienced a spike in popularity around 2000 or so, but it’s gone down quite a bit since then. [name_u]Devin[/name_u] in any spelling hasn’t been in the top 1000 for girls since 2013, and hasn’t ever peaked over the top 500 for any spelling since before 2000 (I only went back to 2000). I think it’s one of those names that known and thrown around a lot, but not used as much as you would think.

I’m indifferent towards [name_u]Devin[/name_u]. I don’t like or dislike it really, but with this spelling, I’ve only known female Devins.

I know a woman in her 20s named [name_u]Devin[/name_u]. The name suits her, and she is really sweet and funny. [name_u]Devin[/name_u] is not my personal style, but I think it could work as a name for a little girl that will grow with her. [name_u]Devon[/name_u] is all boy to my eyes while [name_u]Devin[/name_u] is unisex.
