[name_u]Dexter[/name_u] recently came up after my husband vetoed [name_m]Felix[/name_m]. I’d be curious to hear your opinions of this name. Is [name_u]Dexter[/name_u] exclusively a “nerd” name (as my sister lovingly suggested)? Or does the nn [name_m]Dex[/name_m] make it accessible?
[name_f]Do[/name_f] you have any suggestions for similar names?

I think it’s a beautiful name but many people would probably think about the TV series ([name_u]Dexter[/name_u]'s Lab).
If you’re into the “x” thing, how about [name_m]Baxter[/name_m], [name_m]Xander[/name_m], [name_m]Xavier[/name_m], [name_u]Paxton[/name_u], [name_m]Maddox[/name_m], [name_u]Phoenix[/name_u], [name_u]Alexis[/name_u], [name_m]Maximilian[/name_m]?
I think of [name_u]Dexter[/name_u] being a very cool name. Names with an X are modern and up to date.
[name_u]Dexter[/name_u] is a lovely name and [name_m]Dex[/name_m] would be my first thought for nickname
