Diane/Dianne/Diana/Dianna/Deanna, etc

What do you think of [name]Diane[/name] and [name]Diana[/name] and all the variants? I know it’s “old” but I think it’s pretty.

I think [name]Diana[/name] is lovely. It feels borderline classic to me. It maybe feels mildly passe, but, like, in a very pretty and not too heavy way, there is this class of names like that, i find sabrina, miranda, and vanessa to be like that - the people i know with these names are my age mainly, but there aren’t tons of them, and I find the names very pretty.

[name]Diane[/name] feels more heavily dated, although still better than some in the same category.

Not a particular fan of the [name]Dianne[/name]/[name]Dianna[/name] spellings, they are not bad but the others just seem naturally easier and prettier. I suppose these spellings have a certain logic if you want to honor an [name]Anne[/name]/[name]Anna[/name].

I can’t get too into [name]Deanna[/name]. Again, no strong dislike, it just pales next to [name]Diana[/name].

All best!

Agree with pp! [name]Diana[/name] feels classic and timeless to me. All other variants seem dated and not as lovely.

I love [name]Diana[/name]. She’s a [name]Roman[/name] goddess, of course, and the name feels regal. [name]Diane[/name] is much less substantial, somehow.

[name]Love[/name] [name]Diana[/name]. Beautiful name for a girl, yet ages really well. I think it is great! A little royal but yet girl next door too.

Well my name is [name]Dianna[/name] so I think this is the BEST version of this name  Ok, I’m being conceited but I never had a problem with my name. The only “name issue” that I have is that I [name]LOVE[/name] my sister’s name [name]Beatrix[/name] better than my name lol!! On a side note, [name]Dianna[/name] offers a lot of nn options such as [name]Annie[/name] (my nn), [name]Dia[/name], [name]Didi[/name], [name]Anna[/name], [name]Ann[/name]

My mom’s name is [name]Dianna[/name], so I have soft spot for it. That being said, I prefer the spelling [name]Diana[/name]. It just looks more modern, and without the extra N, it much less mom-like to me. It’s extremely beautiful.
I don’t really like [name]Diane[/name] or [name]Deanna[/name] much.

I love the name [name]Diana[/name]! I see her as an under-used classic, with a royal touch.

I think [name]Diana[/name] is so beautiful. it’s high on my current list. I used to not be too keen on the [name]Diana[/name] variation, but i have to admit that it’s growing on me now!

[name]Diane[/name]/[name]Diana[/name] are names for royalty! [name]Diane[/name] de Poitiers (Diane, not Diana) was a 16th-century French noblewoman. And, of course, there’s [name]Princess[/name] [name]Diana[/name]. [name]Both[/name] timeless and classic. Dianne (with 2 n’s) has a softer look and brings to mind Anne, also a classic.

[name]Diana[/name] all the way! Very pretty name, and I find it a positive thing if it isn’t currently trendy.

I’m more than a little biased b/c my name is [name]Diana[/name] :), but I thought I’d chime in to say that I have always loved my name. I love that its a well-known name that doesn’t seem to be overused. Growing up (I’m an 80s baby), I never met another [name]Diana[/name] face-to-face until I got to college. I liked this because in a sea of [name]Laurens[/name], Stephanies, and Amandas (which are nice names, just very popular at my school), I liked that [name]Diana[/name] always felt like “my” name. I get the impression that [name]Diana[/name] still isn’t used that often; I haven’t met a little [name]Diana[/name] in a long time, so if you like names that are a bit more rare, [name]Diana[/name] is a great choice!

Plus, there are some great connections to the name:
[name]Diana[/name] is the name of a [name]Roman[/name] goddess, it has the [name]Princess[/name] [name]Diana[/name] connection, and it’s the title of a [name]Paul[/name] [name]Anka[/name] song (a cool music connection I’ve always liked)!

While the name [name]Diane[/name] has some sentimental value to me (it’s a family name), [name]Diane[/name] has always felt like an “older” name to me. [name]IMO[/name], [name]Diana[/name] is a fresher/more youthful alternative.

[name]Love[/name] [name]Dianna[/name], [name]Diana[/name] too

I know a [name]Deana[/name] but I think of it as quite separate, [name]Dean[/name]-a, than the [name]Di[/name]- crowd.

My name is [name]Diana[/name], so I’m a bit biased, but I love [name]Diana[/name]. If you go with [name]Diana[/name], I wouldn’t spell it [name]Dianna[/name]. That just looks ridiculous and more people will point out the Die [name]Anna[/name]! thing. (which I only got once and it was in high school, so it was teasing, just one of those, I just realized… type moments)

Also, I never got the [name]Princess[/name] [name]Diana[/name] reference or the [name]Roman[/name] goddess reference… I was born in the year she died too, which is odd, but I’m sure today none of the kids will even think to bring up [name]Princess[/name] [name]Diana[/name]…

I love [name]Diana[/name]. It is definitely a classic, in my opinion. She is, after all, a [name]Roman[/name] goddess.

[name]Diane[/name] feels incomplete to me, especially next to [name]Diana[/name].

Not a fan of any of the spelling variations. Especially [name]Deanna[/name].

I’m going to go against the general opinion here and give a vote for [name]Deanna[/name] (said [name]Dee[/name]-[name]Anna[/name], not [name]Dee[/name]-arna). I have a friend with this name and she loves it, more so because there aren’t many others out there. She was named for the silver screen femme fatale [name]Deanna[/name] Durbin. Plus she has the cute but spunky nickname [name]Dee[/name]. I think it could be due for a revival…

I dislike all the variants, but I really like [name]Diana[/name]. It’s lovely and classic.

I really like [name]Diana[/name]. It’s really elegant and classic, yet really sweet sounding at the same time. Not a fan of any of the variants though.

When I first read that, I was thinking, “That can’t be right. She didn’t die that long ago. A kid born the same year [name]Princess[/name] [name]Diana[/name] died would only be…15. Huh.” LOL. Now I feel old!

lol, I actually had my years wrong, I was 5 or 6 when she died. But I still didn’t get any [name]Princess[/name] [name]Diana[/name] references, mainly because kids don’t really know her and she’s in [name]England[/name] not [name]America[/name].

I think [name]Diana[/name] is beautiful. It’s a little dated since it was largely unused throughout the 70s-90s, but it’s still such a classic.

I’m not fond of any of the variants.
