I came across the name [name]Bellamy[/name] a long time ago and always loved how it was possible to get the nn [name]Bella[/name] or [name]Bell[/name] from it which is a different option for all of us who love them!
I think it’s a nice different name from [name]Isabelle[/name],[name]Isabella[/name],[name]Arabella[/name], etc that still has the [name]Bell[/name] factor that is quite popular these days, so do you think it’s a good first name or would work better as a middle name and what’s your overall opinion on it? Please! I would really love hearing what you think about it
Origin of [name]Bellamy[/name]
Derived from the Old French bel amy (fair friend, beautiful friend), which is from the Latin bellus (fair, beautiful) and amicus (friend).
I [name]LOVE[/name] this name and have for a long time since I saw it as the name of one of the novogratz kids (old reality show family). I also love the fact that it has those great nn options and meaning. My current combo is [name]Bellamy[/name] [name]Violet[/name] [name]Snow[/name]…
I agree that it’s a pretty sound.
To me it’s just too close to words like bigamy, infamy, polygamy, Bedlam, etc. None of them nice connections.
I like the name it is sweet! I would especially use it if you have any family connections to the last name [name]Bellamy[/name].
What’s wrong with just [name]Belle[/name]? I never hear anyone go with [name]Belle[/name] anymore. It’s classic and classy. [name]Bella[/name] names are so overdone and trendy.
I love, love, love [name]Bellamy[/name]! I think it’s such a sweet name that doesn’t have all the frill that [name]Isabel[/name] or [name]Isabella[/name] can have. My current combo is [name]Bellamy[/name] [name]Aurelia[/name].
[name]Just[/name] a surname to me. I think of the burly footie player who used to play for our club, [name]Craig[/name] [name]Bellamy[/name].
I love it. I came upon it a few months ago and I’ve been in love ever since. Another spelling is [name]Bellamie[/name], which I don’t prefer but some people might, since its less like the surname and also less like [name]Belle[/name] and [name]Amy[/name] combined.
Lots of surnames are becoming popular, like [name]Sawyer[/name], [name]Mason[/name], [name]Greer[/name], etc. Why not the pretty and feminine [name]Bellamy[/name]?
Nameberry lists it as a unisex name, but I think of it as a very feminine name. Maybe it could work for a boy, but it has both [name]Belle[/name] and [name]Amy[/name]. Besides that, if she decides its too uncommon, there’s plenty of nicknames for it. [name]Belle[/name], [name]Bella[/name], [name]Amy[/name], etc.
For me, [name]Bellamy[/name] is a perfect name. Feminine, uncommon, lots of nicknames. I love it.
