Do most Lucas' use the nn Luke?

[name]Luke[/name] is one of my top names and currently at #47 in NY which is ok with me. But I am worried if all the [name]Lucas[/name]’ in NY (843 in 2011 ) use the nn [name]Luke[/name] and I add them to the [name]Luke[/name]'s (448 in 2011) than [name]Luke[/name] is really as popular as say [name]Ethan[/name] or [name]Joseph[/name] in the 1200’s…

I have met alot more [name]Luke[/name]'s in the 8-12 year range than under 5 lately. WDYT?

I think so. I love the name [name]Lucas[/name]. I know an elementary age boy named [name]Lucas[/name] nn [name]Luc[/name].

If you only call him [name]Lucas[/name], no. A good friend of mine is a [name]Lucas[/name] and he has never gone by [name]Luke[/name]. To me they’re two separate names.

My one year old’s name is [name]Luke[/name], so I’m biased but I really am glad we chose it, I think it’s a strong name and not overly used. Having said that I know 2 boys named [name]Lucas[/name], both older that go by [name]Luke[/name]. Also we get the occasional person calling our baby [name]Lucas[/name], which is a little annoying. I say if you love it, go for it

I like [name]Lucas[/name] more and the nickname [name]Luc[/name] is really cute.

@meso – I much prefer [name]Luke[/name] too and think its a great name.

I just dont want him to be [name]Luke[/name] F his whole life, though part of me thinks its a crap shoot no matter what. My son [name]Jack[/name] had 2 [name]Paulo[/name]'s and 2 [name]Anderson[/name]'s in his preschool class, both no where near the top 100, and he was the only [name]Jack[/name]. No [name]Jacob[/name]'s, [name]Ethan[/name] or [name]Aiden[/name]'s either.

I know a [name]Lucas[/name] who is now 12 -he goes by [name]Lucas[/name] or [name]Luca[/name] (because his parents are French speakers) but never ever [name]Luc[/name], even though that is a French name too.

I have a nine year old cousin named [name]Lucas[/name]. We pretty much call him both, sometimes [name]Lucas[/name] and other times [name]Luke[/name]. But overall he’s mostly called [name]Lucas[/name].

I only know one [name]Lukas[/name] and he’s a year old. Other than that my only [name]Lucas[/name] experience has been TV. For example, [name]One[/name] Tree [name]Hill[/name]‘s [name]Lucas[/name] is [name]Lucas[/name] [name]Eugene[/name] and he goes by [name]Lucas[/name] and [name]Luke[/name] (both, also later seasons as Uncle [name]Luke[/name]). And then [name]General[/name] Hospital has 2 [name]Lucas[/name]’ which are [name]Lucas[/name] [name]Lorenzo[/name] [name]Spencer[/name] Sr & [name]Jr[/name]. Senior goes by [name]Luke[/name] and [name]Junior[/name] by [name]Lucky[/name].

I prefer [name]Luke[/name] to [name]Lucas[/name], the short and spunky wins me over. I don’t think all Lucases will go by [name]Luke[/name], and I think it’s always pot luck what names will double up in classes. In a group of 10 girls I met yesterday all aged between 7 and 10, the only double name was [name]Taylor[/name], a name that’s not even all that high in the UK charts of 10 years ago.

75% of the [name]Lucas[/name]’ I know use the nn [name]Luke[/name]. I don’t know any [name]Lucas[/name]’ who use any other nickname.
