Do you consider this name popular or common?

do you consider the name [name_f]Ivy[/name_f] popular or common?

That is my only question.

Here in [name_u]Holland[/name_u] popular.

I don’t consider it popular or common, rather well-known or familiar.

We live in the United States and our last name is common so I’m trying to pick a name that’s not popular but also familiar.
I love [name_f]Ivy[/name_f] but I see it’s rising in popularity (based on stats)

I don’t consider it popular or common, but think it is really cute!

It’s definitely getting used more often than it used to, but I wouldn’t consider it popular or common yet. If you used it now there’s a very good chance your daughter would be the only [name_f]Ivy[/name_f] anyone in your/her circle personally knows.

Looking at the stats, its usage is going up but it seems to be climbing pretty steadily, so I don’t think it’s in too much danger of suddenly having a huge popularity surge.

Yes. 6-7 years ago (long before a baby was on my radar) I loved it and thought I’d use it for a future daughter.
Now that I’m having a girl, it’s not on my list because it’s become common. I’m in Australia.
I think [name_f]Ivy[/name_f], [name_f]Ava[/name_f], [name_f]Evie[/name_f] have all become popular and probably each add to each other’s feeling of being too common.

I never hear it, but I wish I did

[name_m]Even[/name_m] at it’s highest, it only accounts for .12% of births in the US. Less than 2,500 babies given the name [name_f]Ivy[/name_f] in 2015 - realistically, that’s not many. At all.

I see it somewhere between familiar and popular in the US.

I think it’s trendy. Not yet in the top 100, and the only one I’ve ever met was a 4-year-old, so it’s not popular for me. I also don’t quite understand the difference between common and popular. It’s a wonderful name though!

Here in NZ it’s in the top 100, but I haven’t met many girls named [name_f]Ivy[/name_f] at all

Not common, but starting to get popular and moving up the charts quickly. If you don’t like the idea of a top 100 name, don’t do it. On the other hand, it’s probably going to continue to sound fresh for a while. Tough call.

It’s familiar but I don’t know if I’d call it popular. In 9 years of teaching, I’ve known 2 girls named [name_f]Ivy[/name_f]. (If you are interested specifically in your area, ask a teacher. We know ALL the name trends! lol)

It’s not popular where I live in the U.S.

I think it is only popular in the sense that many people like it. But it is still not a commonly heard name. I like it.

Agree with @pink-flamingo about [name_f]Ivy[/name_f] being used in Australia much more than U.S. On our visit to [name_m]Melbourne[/name_m]/[name_u]Sydney[/name_u] for [name_u]Christmas[/name_u] we met quite a few in the 2-6 year age group. Not common, popular, and now decreasing was my impression.

[name_m]Just[/name_m] adding to my previous post, in Australia it made the top 20 last year.

No, not at all. [name_f]Lily[/name_f], [name_f]Rose[/name_f] and [name_f]Daisy[/name_f] are popular or common (but still lovely). [name_f]Ivy[/name_f] is not rare, but not common, either. I love it.

I agree with this.
