I AM A lover of8f names, I like all kinds of names. Lookng at baby names is my obsession. Nuy lately I’ve noticed, about 3/4 of my favourites sre all girl names. I’m not sure if it’s because I am a girl, but boy names aren’t as interesting to me. I do have some favourites of courses ([name_m]Jaxon[/name_m], [name_m]Peter[/name_m], [name_u]Bailey[/name_u], [name_u]Howard[/name_u]) but for the most part I just love girl names. Does anybody else have this problem?
I always seem to have a few distinct favourites for boys, and then can never make my mind up for girls. [name_f]My[/name_f] top girls names are about double the length of my boys list, haha.
[name_f]My[/name_f] girls list, whether it be favourites, my long list, guilty pleasures etc., is always longer. I’ve got 29 girls names, but only 20 for boys in my top names list. I just find it easier to find girls names I like; I’m so much more picky about boys names. But I think I might love my boys names a bit more.
I love boy names and have a lot of trouble with girl names
I feel like maybe it’s because I’m a girl and being around girls more than boys resulted in stronger emotions. Similarly, I haven’t been around many guys and growing up I feel like boys had less variety in names (e.g., [name_u]Michael[/name_u], [name_m]Matthew[/name_m], [name_m]Christopher[/name_m]), so most of the names I see feel fresh.
Boy names are so much more interesting to me. I have a handful of girl’s names I truly love, but the rest are pretty blah.
It took me forever to find a boy name I liked let alone more than one. I think it’s because I don’t really want boys. Lol. I want girls that I can dress up and do their hair and do girly things with. I wouldn’t even know where to begin with a boy. Not to say I wouldn’t make it work. But I have no clue what I like in boy names. The two I have listed took WEEKS to come up with. We will be TTC sometime in the next couple months and if I get pregnant with a boy I probably won’t have a name until the day I deliver. Haha.
Absolutely! I tend to vastly favor girl’s names over boy’s names. I have about five or six boy’s names that I truly love, compared to a list of thirty plus girl’s names. I tend to like long and frilly names, and I just find that girl’s names allow for more interesting options.
OMG YES! When I was pregnant with both of my girls, I happened to only love boys name - _ -
I have a solid 15 favorite names that I would use on both my lists, but I find myself looking up girls names more often. I love classic boys names the most and more unusual and frilly girls names. [name_f]My[/name_f] boys list doesn’t change that often, but my girls list changes all of the time.
When I first started paying attention to what names I like I had a ton of girl names and couldn’t find any for boys now it’s the opposite there is hardly any girl names I like and a ton of boys names
I, too, am much mor fascinated with girls names. I think it’s because there’s kind of mor variety in girls names. More unusual word names and such I can see on girls more than boys. Anyway, I have a solid top ten for boys (and I do love them) but a top fifty for girls.
Boy names are just easier for me somehow. For example, my guilty pleasures list only has two girl names. That might have been influenced by the fact that girls are rare in both mine and my husband’s family.
I’m TTC and I’m always daydreaming of a little boy but alas, I have a list chock full of girl names.
All I think about are girl names and my list is always being edited…the never ending name list. I swear.
Boys names, I have about three to four that I love. But with the girls list…geez. I’d need a dozen children to use them all.
They’re more FUN.
Well, I have way, way, way more girls’ names, but I fall harder for the boys’ names, if that makes any sense. I’ll try to explain.
[name_f]My[/name_f] top girl name is probably [name_f]Lily[/name_f]. I like it, but it’s not GREAT. On the other hand, when I find a good boy name, I start to [name_u]LOVE[/name_u] it. Like with [name_u]Finn[/name_u] or [name_m]Absalom[/name_m], my two favorites.
While I like a broader range of girls’ names, I find that I love more boys’ names. I could easily make a list of 50 girls’ names that I like, but I might only love one or two; whereas I’d have a hard time putting together a list of 20 boys’ names that I like, but I’d love seven of them.
I might also be influenced by my husband–it’s extremely difficult for us to agree on girls’ names, so I tend to quickly discard those that he doesn’t like so that I don’t get too attached to something I can’t have. We have a much easier time agreeing on boys’ names, so I have more names to mull over and fall in love with as real options.
I definitely favor girl names.
While I was pregnant, I never really gave too much thought to boy names. It could be because I justknew she was a girl or because I just don’t feel strongly about boy names. They usually stay the same whereas my girls are always changing. Also the type of names stays the same usually with boys, whereas my girls are all over the place.
I try to keep my lists pretty even, but if I let it go unchecked, my girls’ list would probably be twice as long as my boys’… I just find it so easy to find girls’ names I really love. Boys, not so much. Maybe that’s a better thing, though? Less names to eliminate in the future?
I think it’s probably pretty common to have a longer list on one side versus the other.
For me, it’s definitely the girl side. I’m not sure why, other than wanting another daughter. I grew up around boys (lived with my dad and brother) and all my best friends were always guys, but girl names are more exciting to me in general. It might be the other way around if we currently had three daughters and a son…
[name_f]My[/name_f] list for girls is always longer, but my boys list usually stays steadfast. Names change on in awhile on my boys list, usually to something similar (like [name_m]Christopher[/name_m] changed to [name_m]Christian[/name_m]). Once I fall in love with a boys name, its pretty hard to sway me against it. For girls, its a little bit different. I do have my absolute favorites, which are few and sparse, and then I have my crush, which usually last for about a month or two, and then I move on. I also like different styles of names for boys and girls. [name_m]Even[/name_m] though I have more girls names on my list, I prefer searching for boys names. I just love them more, I guess.
I’ve grown up with girls (2 sisters, 2 girl cousins, dancer) so girl names come easier to me. I don’t love looking for boys’ names as much and I’ve found that I usually just settle and put a family name in the middle name slot while I spend a long time worrying about girl middle names.
