Do you know any BOYS with female dominated unisex names?

And do they get made fun of for having those names?

Names like [name]Madison[/name], [name]Addison[/name], [name]Avery[/name], [name]Aubrey[/name], etc.

I known of Averys, Rileys, even a [name]Kelly[/name], but they never really had teasing issues because those names aren’t seen as very female in the UK - except [name]Kelly[/name], though nothing was ever really said about that one either.

I knew a guy in highschool named [name]Sandy[/name]. I don’t think anybody made fun of him (at least to his face.)

I like [name]Morgan[/name] on a boy so much. I’ve known one who I don’t think anyone would mess with. I’ve known a male [name]Bailey[/name] in his 30s.

I know a male [name]Addison[/name] is his 20’s and a male [name]Hadley[/name] in his 30’s.

I know a man named [name]Dana[/name]. Not sure how female dominated that is but he is the only male [name]Dana[/name] I know. He ALWAYS uses his middle name btw.

I know a [name]Ashley[/name], [name]Bailey[/name], [name]Leonie[/name], [name]Kelly[/name] and [name]Maddison[/name]… So lots of the parents I know love unisex names

I know a male [name]Adison[/name], [name]Morgan[/name], and [name]Riley[/name]. But I see all three as equally male and female names, not particularly masculine or particularly feminine.

There was a male [name]Addison[/name] at my school. He didn’t get teased for having a feminine name because while we were growing up no one would have thought it was a girl’s name. It was just uncommon then.

Well my sons are [name]Vale[/name], [name]Flynn[/name] and [name]Darby[/name]. Not sure if they are more often used on girls but in response to the teasing thing, they are all 4yrs and under though so as far as kids being mean they aren’t really old enough. We haven’t any comments from adults about the names, well 1 or 2 are surprised Darb is a boy! But they didn’t make a big deal out of it when corrected :). I know of several Sidneys(most go by [name]Sid[/name]) between 7 and 12 yrs old, only one of whom has had any problems but I think that is more due to him being insanely bright and very short than his name bless him.

i keep a list for when threads come up about this. None of the boys I know have ever been made fun of for having a “girls name” or a name that is mostly used for girls.

[name]Jody[/name]
Izra
[name]Artemis[/name] – traditional female name
[name]Gale[/name]
[name]Raven[/name]
[name]Robin[/name]
[name]Winter[/name] – which most consider a girls name
[name]Tayler[/name] – unisex but definitely more girl
[name]Jalen[/name]
[name]Sage[/name] – unisex name mostly used for girls
Simi
Zovala
[name]Isidore[/name] – which is a male name but most people think it’s a form of [name]Isadora[/name]
[name]Glynn[/name]
[name]Jade[/name]
[name]Britt[/name]
Kohana – which is a flat out girls name meaning “resembling a fragile flower” Kohana [name]Alain[/name] … Very jocky boy too
[name]Seren[/name] – another flat out girls name
[name]Jarah[/name]
[name]Lark[/name]
[name]Willow[/name] – and he goes by the full [name]Willow[/name], no nicknames

My uncle’s brother is an [name]Ashley[/name]. As far as I know, it’s normal to him, that side of my family is very Scottish and [name]Ashley[/name] is just a very common family name on the boys. And he was given it long before it became cool to use it on a girl (like when I was born. ha.). I have a coworker named [name]Taylor[/name], a guy, and he isn’t very happy about it, I don’t think. I’ve never heard anyone tease him about it, but he obviously thinks boys should have boys names, lol. [name]One[/name] day a [name]Shannon[/name] (boy) came to where we work, and we have to take down names (similar to a Starbucks, but we are so not a Starbucks, lol), and when he heard the guy’s name was [name]Shannon[/name] he was offended for him. lol. He went off on this tirade about how boys should never be named [name]Taylor[/name], or [name]Ashley[/name], or especially [name]Shannon[/name]. haha. He said that nobody names their sons those names anymore, he obviously hasn’t heard of Nameberry, lol!

I know a male [name]Shannon[/name], [name]Bailey[/name], [name]Taylor[/name] & [name]Kimberly[/name]

Most of the men/boys I know with unisex, feminine leaning names are quite young (under 20.) With ages, I know:
[name]Addison[/name] (2, one is about 10 and the other is in his early 20s)
[name]Bailey[/name] (12)
[name]Aubrey[/name] (late teens)
[name]Ashley[/name] (early 30s)
[name]Riley[/name] (I know TONS of male Rileys, all under 10.)
[name]Avery[/name] (5)
[name]Kelly[/name] (early 20s)

I have known a [name]Star[/name], [name]Quinn[/name], [name]Addison[/name], & [name]Mackenzie/name. None have been made fun of, or at least to their face.

I had a camp counselor [name]Mackenzie[/name]. It got a little confusing (a lot of female Mackenzies) but there was no teasing. He’s maybe in his early twenties. Another counselor [name]Fergus[/name] “[name]Fergie[/name]”. There may have been some playful teasing at that one, but nothing rude.

I know:

[name]Shanon[/name]
[name]Addison[/name]
[name]Ashley[/name]
[name]Lindsey[/name]
[name]Courtney[/name]
[name]Taylor[/name]

I know a
[name]Robin[/name] about 21
[name]Riley[/name] 3
[name]Jordan[/name] 3 there was a girl in the same class named Jordyne

I’ve known a male [name]Kelsey[/name], [name]Kelly[/name] & [name]Morgan[/name]. None of them were teased for their names. And they were every make up of guys you could think of, [name]Kelsey[/name] was a jock, [name]Kelly[/name] a nerd, and [name]Morgan[/name] was a theater kid. All male, none of them had problems with being teased.

Isn’t this an amazing contrast to the opinions that are always thrown out there that every boy with such a name will be beaten up.
