[name]Just[/name] wondering what nicknames you might call them by since the name is so short. [name]Just[/name] [name]Luke[/name], not [name]Lucas[/name]. Also, if you have one are you happy with your name choice? Thanks!
3 on my son’s soccer team, two in his class at school, and one of the following variations in our own family:
[name]Luke[/name]
[name]Lucas[/name]
[name]Luca[/name]
I have a cousin [name]Luke[/name], he must be a teenager give or take (he is a distant cousin). No nicknames that I am aware of. Then there is the Modern Family [name]Luke[/name], who I believe is also no nicknames, but maybe Lukie occasionally? That is it for [name]Lukes[/name] and me.
I know a boy names [name]Brendan[/name] [name]Luke[/name] who goes by [name]Luke[/name]. He’s a fun loving, science loving type of kid. He’s 6.
I can’t see why [name]Luke[/name] needs a nickname. [name]Luke[/name] itself is usually a nickname for something else, and it’s strong on it’s own. I suppose if you really wanted one, Lukie or [name]Lu[/name] are the only that could possibly work. but really, nicknames can be anything or grow out of anything and those are the best.
I know one [name]Luke[/name]. His full name is [name]Jon[/name] [name]Luke[/name], but he has always been [name]Luke[/name]/Lukey. I do think Lukey/Lukie is cute when he’s little, but other than that, the only nn for [name]Luke[/name] I can think of is [name]Lu[/name]/[name]Lou[/name]…
As far as I know, both [name]Jon[/name] [name]Luke[/name] and his parents are very happy with his name. He’s a senior in high school right now, and big brother to an [name]Adam[/name]. Not sure if you wanted that info, too, but I figured it might be helpful, haha.
Good luck!
My cousin is [name]Luke[/name], just [name]Luke[/name]! He loves his name and so do his parents. I have never heard him say that he wishes he had a fuller name. I really don’t think it needs a NN. If he wants to go by something else he can always use his MN.
My cousin has a son (he’s 11) named [name]Lucas[/name]. People sometimes call him [name]Luca[/name] or [name]Lucas[/name], but usually just [name]Luke[/name].
I know one [name]Luke[/name] and one [name]Lucas[/name]. [name]Luke[/name] is wonderful!
I know a 1 year old [name]Luke[/name] [name]Nathaniel[/name] – he’s a cutie! As far as I know, he only goes by [name]Luke[/name].
I know a teenage [name]Luke[/name], that’s all he goes by though. As everyone else has said there’s really only Lukie and [name]Lu[/name] as nns, unless you wanted to call him say [name]Blue[/name] because his eyes are so pure or [name]Tigger[/name] because he has lots of energy like the tiger from [name]Winnie[/name]-the-Pooh. Or you could always go for a [name]Star[/name] Wars reference, haha.
I know a look and the only sort of nn that we call him in a joking manner is Cool Hand (and like the note above, I’m sure he gets tired of the [name]Star[/name] Wars references too-- “[name]Luke[/name], I am your father” or “use the force [name]Luke[/name]” are commonly heard in conversation). I don’t think [name]Luke[/name] has to have a nn.
I agree with pp’s that [name]Luke[/name] doesn’t really need a nn, it already is a nn for [name]Lucas[/name]… unless it was a nn based on his looks or personality, I wouldn’t give a [name]Luke[/name] a nn.
[name]Luke[/name] is very popular in [name]Ireland[/name]. I’ve two close friends [name]Luke[/name]. i love the name. it’s a classic.
[name]Luke[/name] is almost a little bit dated in the UK so most [name]Luke[/name]'s I know of are in their teens, including a relative of mine who is 16 years old.
The youngest [name]Luke[/name]'s I know are all 9 years old, they were in a class I worked in and all went by [name]Luke[/name] and their last initial.
I’ve callen the [name]Luke[/name]'s I know [name]Lucas[/name], [name]Luca[/name] or Lukey…
I know 2, one is my 2 yr old nephew who is just [name]Luke[/name]. The other is a friend who sometimes goes by Lukey to close friends.
I know a teenage [name]Luke[/name], as far as I know he just goes by [name]Luke[/name] now, though when he was a kid he was called Lukey loads to the extent I got one birthday card from his family signed “From X, Y, Lukey and Z.”
thanks! DH thinks a man should have a short and strong name so I will probably just call him a nn unrelated to LO’s name.Anything goes these days doesn’t it?

I agree. I am in Australia and [name]Luke[/name] seems more like a teenagers/early 20s’ guys name, I know several in this age range. Also my gf’s cousin (mid 30’s) is [name]Luke[/name]. I teach two [name]Luke[/name]'s and a couple of [name]Luka[/name]/[name]Luca[/name]'s. I also nanny a baby [name]Luca[/name] which is the most popular name out of the [name]Luke[/name]/[name]Luca[/name]/[name]Lucas[/name] names here (around #80) and we call him Lukie as a nn. Good luck!
I know a [name]Luke[/name] who is about 35 and two [name]Lukes[/name] who are around 20. I think they all go by just plain [name]Luke[/name].
I know a [name]Luke[/name]- do you want a nickname? I always hope for the opposite!
