Do you like Micah more for a boy or girl?

[name_m]Hi[/name_m] guys! I have always loved the name [name_u]Micah[/name_u], but I can’t decide if I like it more for a girl or a boy. I have [name_u]Micah[/name_u] [name_m]Wesley[/name_m] on my boys list since it’s more commonly used for a boy (at least where I live), but it sounds more feminine to me. I also know a girl named [name_u]Micah[/name_u] and a lady with a daughter named [name_u]Micah[/name_u]. [name_f]Do[/name_f] you guys prefer it more for a boy or girl? If you like it more for a girl, what middle names would you pair with it? Thanks for the help!

I have the same dilemma! It is one of my favorite names, and I tend to like it more for a girl although I do waver back and forth. I don’t like [name_m]Mike[/name_m] or [name_m]Mikey[/name_m] as a nickname for a girl, which is my main hesitation. I would give a very feminine middle name if I did use it for a girl. Likewise, very masculine if I used it for a boy.

[name_u]Micah[/name_u] [name_f]Seraphine[/name_f]
[name_u]Micah[/name_u] [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f]
[name_u]Micah[/name_u] [name_u]Evelyn[/name_u]

[name_u]Micah[/name_u] [name_m]William[/name_m]
[name_u]Micah[/name_u] [name_m]Samuel[/name_m]
[name_u]Micah[/name_u] [name_u]James[/name_u]

[name_u]Micah[/name_u] sounds very masculine to me…can’t imagine it on a girl.

I always thought it was a boy name.

My preference is for a boy. Although, I know a little girl named [name_u]Micah[/name_u] (she’s about 10 years old) and it fits her well!

I like it for both, but I think I have a slight preference for it as a girl’s name. Not sure on middle names, but I agree with pp that it needs a feminine middle.

Definitely boy!

I really dislike it on a girl, and love it on a boy.

It sounds about as feminine as [name_m]Joshua[/name_m] to me, honestly. Not every -a or -ah name is a girls’ name.

I am fond of it for a boy but I also like [name_m]Ezra[/name_m], [name_m]Judah[/name_m], etc. so maybe that’s just my style.

I think it works equally well on either gender, depending on spelling. [name_u]Mika[/name_u] for a girl, [name_u]Micah[/name_u] for a boy, Mica for either.

To be honest, I didn’t even know it was a girl’s name! I like it a lot more on a boy.

It isn’t a girl’s name. It was never intended to be unisex. It’s a boys name.

All boy. My husband’s brother is [name_u]Micah[/name_u] nn [name_m]Mike[/name_m].

I know a girl named [name_f]Mikah[/name_f], and it fits her, but I only like this for a boy. My cousin is going to name his baby girl a biblical boy name, but tweak the spelling to make it more girly, and it makes me absolutely cringe.

Thanks for the opinions everybody! I think I’m going to keep it on my boy’s list. With the nicknames [name_m]Mike[/name_m] and [name_m]Mikey[/name_m], I can see what some you like it more for a boy. Like a couple of you said, not every name that ends in “a” or “ah” is a girl’s name.

[name_u]Micah[/name_u] is a fav. of mine.
If chosen for a girl choose a feminine middle name.
Always insist on calling her [name_u]Micah[/name_u]. And people will stick with it.
[name_u]Micah[/name_u] [name_f]Sophia[/name_f], [name_u]Micah[/name_u] [name_f]Genevieve[/name_f],
[name_u]Micah[/name_u] [name_f]Camille[/name_f], [name_u]Micah[/name_u] [name_f]Elise[/name_f],
[name_u]Micah[/name_u] [name_f]Laurel[/name_f] etc.

I actually really like it for both genders - it’s on both lists for me!

I prefer it for a boy.

[name_u]Micah[/name_u] is a boy name. I think the ending sound is what gives the assumption to some people that it’s a unisex name.

It’s usable for a girl, but I think it works best as a boys name.

but I am not drawn to it for either b/c it reminds me of Formica.

I like boy names on boys and girl names on girls, usually.

I love [name_u]Michael[/name_u] with [name_u]Mischa[/name_u] for a nickname. Nicknames one can do anything with.
