I’m trying to get some thoughts on the names [name]Lena[/name] (lee-nah), [name]Lena[/name] (lay-nah), or [name]Selene[/name] (seh-leen).
I personally prefer [name]Selene[/name] since it sounds more complete, but [name]Lena[/name] is more common and recognizable. [name]Selene[/name] worries me a little because I don’t want to pick such a name that sounds ridiculous to others.
I realize [name]Lena[/name] can be a nn for [name]Selene[/name], but I want to compare the names individually.
Thanks for any input in advance!
I love the name [name]Selene[/name]. I think its different but not unfamiliar. I like the moon goddess meaning. I think its awesome but everyone else I’ve talked to hasn’t liked it.
I like [name]Lena[/name] better, but if you like [name]Selene[/name] more you should use it. I can’t see how anyone would think it ridiculous even if it’s not their favorite. It’s a pretty name, I just have a thing for short and sweet girls names so [name]Lena[/name] appeals to me. [name]Selene[/name] nn [name]Lena[/name] is an excellent option!
I love [name]Selene[/name]! It’s so beautiful and feminine (without being too frilly), it has a wonderful meaning, and [name]Lena[/name] is a great nn option. I don’t think it’s ridiculous at all, [name]Selena[/name] and [name]Celine[/name] are both common enough that I don’t think anyone would think twice about it.
[name]Selene[/name]. [name]Silky[/name], liquid, silvery, and luminescent. [name]Lena[/name], as others have said, seems incomplete or nickname-y in comparison, though her popularity has ramped up somewhat with the advent of the Beautiful Creatures books and movie.
