Do you think Araminta is usable? Nicknames?

I’ve always liked [name_f]Araminta[/name_f] as a was more unusual cousin of [name_f]Arabella[/name_f]. But is it too long and awkward for everyday use? And what would be a nice nn?

It don’t think it’s unusable and I love the potential nicknames it comes with

Aria
[name_f]Mina[/name_f]
[name_f]Amy[/name_f]
[name_f]Minnie[/name_f]
[name_f]Tina[/name_f]
[name_f]Marta[/name_f]
[name_u]Ari[/name_u]
[name_m]Artie[/name_m]

I can’t see what can make it unusable. [name_f]Arabella[/name_f], [name_f]Valentina[/name_f] etc. are usual names, so why not :man_shrugging:

I like nickname [name_u]Ara[/name_u].

It’s definitely usable. I live in the UK and I have come across a couple. It may be a bit out there but I really like the nickname [name_f]Mint[/name_f] or [name_f]Minty[/name_f]. Adorable!

I too like the nn [name_f]Mint[/name_f] or [name_f]Minty[/name_f] for [name_f]Araminta[/name_f].

I adore [name_f]Araminta[/name_f]! In my mind it’s totally usable - I’ve met quite a few. Personally love [name_f]Minnie[/name_f] and [name_u]Ari[/name_u] as nicknames but there are loads of options in there!

Araminta is gorgeous. It’s on our long list. [name_f]My[/name_f] favorite nickname is [name_f]Minnie[/name_f].

Araminta is sweet! I think it’s usable

Minnie, [name_u]Ara[/name_u], [name_u]Ami[/name_u], [name_f]Mintie[/name_f], [name_f]Attie[/name_f], [name_f]Mina[/name_f] as nn?

I think [name_f]Araminta[/name_f] is perfectly usable!

I like [name_u]Ari[/name_u] (I have an Arei|a nn [name_u]Ari[/name_u] so I might be biased).
[name_u]Ara[/name_u]
[name_f]Minnie[/name_f]
[name_f]Minta[/name_f]
[name_f]Minty[/name_f]

I love [name_f]Araminta[/name_f]. [name_f]Minty[/name_f] is the nickname I would go for but I also like [name_f]Minnie[/name_f].

I love [name_f]Araminta[/name_f]! It’s been my favorite name for years and is my daughters middle name. Tbh I wish [name_f]Araminta[/name_f] was her first name but hubby didn’t like it so we compromised and put it in the middle spot. I call her [name_f]Minty[/name_f] more than I use her first name. I love the nickname potential as well!

I like [name_f]Minnie[/name_f] and [name_f]Minty[/name_f], but [name_u]Ara[/name_u] could be a good choice too!

So there’s a journalist, [name_u]Josie[/name_u] [name_u]Duffy[/name_u] [name_u]Rice[/name_u], who has a daughter named [name_u]Josie[/name_u] [name_f]Araminta[/name_f]. She goes by the nn [name_m]Rami[/name_m]. They chose [name_f]Araminta[/name_f] as it was the birth name of [name_f]Harriet[/name_f] Tubman. I’ve had a soft spot for [name_f]Minty[/name_f] but might like the [name_m]Rami[/name_m] nn even more!

Araminta is gorgeous!

So refreshing and minty.

I love Aery, [name_u]Min[/name_u], [name_f]Mina[/name_f], [name_f]Minna[/name_f], [name_f]Minta[/name_f], [name_f]Minty[/name_f], [name_f]Rama[/name_f].

I don’t think it’s too long or awkward at all! I adore [name_f]Araminta[/name_f] - to me it’s simultaneously very unusual and very wearable, especially with the nickname [name_f]Minty[/name_f] (which is just so cute).

No, sorry.

Not OP, but curious as to why you think so? Is it a regional thing? I love hearing opinions on usability and such. @LynnG

Definitely usable. Especially with [name_f]Arabella[/name_f], [name_f]Annabella[/name_f], [name_f]Annabelle[/name_f], [name_f]Isabella[/name_f], [name_f]Isabelle[/name_f], etc, etc becoming so popular. Plus, I agree with @sunflower367 that it’s really cool that it’s the birth name of [name_f]Harriet[/name_f] Tubman.

I think [name_f]Aria[/name_f] could also work as a nickname.

Sounds made up to me.
Even if it’s not, it’s just too frilly for me. If I’m totally and completely honest, I’d put it in the same category as the names Rainbow, Soleil-Celeste-Etoile, AnnaBellaGrace, etc.

I love me some meta data too
So for your metrics, Ive lived in primarily the NorthEast and MidAtlantic US ( all east coast ) with stints mostly in Western European countries.

It would be very unusual where I live (Southeastern US). [name_f]Arabella[/name_f] would be very unusual too. For me its not usable since I wouldn’t want something so rare and foreign sounding. It doesn’t represent my culture at all. But maybe it is usable for you…
