Do you think the name Theron would be mispronounced a lot?

I asked about the name on yahoo answers my last pregnancy and only four people answered my question about whether or not they liked it and one said they had no clue how to pronounce. And said their best guess was “throne” or “thur-en”

The name is pronounced Thair-en rhymes with [name]Sharon[/name]. [name]How[/name] would you pronounce it if you didn’t know the actual way. It’s one of our contenders and as much as I was hung up on the nick name issue I dislike terry and [name]Ron[/name] or [name]Ronnie[/name], I’m trying to be hopeful that since [name]Theron[/name] is so short that they will jus use [name]Theron[/name] or maybe theo which we like and isn’t too much of a stretch.

Like [name]Charlize[/name] [name]Theron[/name]?
I think she’s popular enough that you could easily say “like the actress” and most people would get it.
Of course misspelling the name might help but that just silly.

My second thought is [name]Theon[/name] Greyjoy from (Song of Ice and [name]Fire[/name]/Game of Thrones).
I can see how people would try to pronounce it The-ron instead as GoT is fairly popular and probably be many a person’s first reference.

Honestly, I think I’d nn a [name]Theron[/name] Tee instead of [name]Ron[/name]/[name]Ronny[/name] or [name]Terry[/name] all of which lack the flair.

I pronounce it “THAIR-on”, which is different than [name]Sharon[/name] in my head. But I quite like it.

With [name]Charlize[/name] out there, I am guessing many people would be apt to pronounce it as she pronounces her name. That was my first instinct. If I had to write it out, it would be THAIR-on.

I too pronounced it differently and wouldn’t understand the actress association. I kind of like it, but to be honest prefer my mispronunciation, haha. (Thear-ron - first syllable rhyming with ear). I kind of like [name]Theo[/name] for it and don’t think it’s too much of a stretch.

We pronounce it th as in bath air en

We do not like it pronounced thair-on. When I say it in my head it sounds like th+ the name [name]Aaron[/name]. But not sure if I want to use it because of the confusion in pronunciation.

Thair-en. I don’t think it need a nn and if you use [name]Ronnie[/name] it will further confuse people over the pronunciation

I always hear [name]Charlize[/name] [name]Theron[/name]'s name as ther-OWN, kind of rhymes with [name]Jerome[/name]
