Her middle name surprises me and sort of makes the [name]Kristen[/name] feel more unisex than if it had been paired with a more feminine name. Is this a stage name or her real name? Any stories behind it?
I just think her parents might have liked that name. when a ‘y’ is added to a name ( [name]Hadyn[/name], [name]Bradyn[/name]) the name becomes feminine for the most part. Their are two girls named [name]Jaymes[/name] ( one is [name]Jaymes[/name], the other is Jaems) at my school and i really like the name actually, especially as a middle name. it makes the name more edgy and i think it adds a lot to [name]Kristen[/name]'s edgy character.

I’m not a [name]Kristen[/name] [name]Stewart[/name] fan, but I wouldn’t describe her as ‘edgy’, lol. Not unless I associated her exclusively with Twilight.
And yes, she was born [name]Kristen[/name] [name]Jaymes[/name] [name]Stewart[/name]. Her mum’s name is [name]Jules[/name] and her father’s name is [name]John[/name], so it’s not totally implausible that they would use a predominantly masculine name on a girl, and one beginning with J at that. Like [name]Evelyn[/name] said, the Y was probably added to make it seem more feminine.
I’ve actually seen it before - a girl called [feminine first name]-[name]Jaymz[/name], with the hyphen. Probably not the best example since they went wacky on the spelling of [name]James[/name] (the fn was actually spelled completely correct, lol) but still.
Probably the reason [name]Kristen[/name] would seem masculine is because with this particular spelling ([name]KristEn[/name] over [name]KristIn[/name]) it’s a boy’s name in Norway (Meaning, origin and history of the name Kristen (1) - Behind the Name) and it sounds like [name]Christopher[/name] and [name]Christian[/name] and the like.
That’s interesting re: her mom’s name. I know a lady who goes by [name]Jules[/name], but not sure that is her actual name. It does seem like there is a pattern there and you are right re: [name]Kristen[/name] - I remember seeing that before where a lady was saying that this was her husband’s name, or it could have been [name]Kirsten[/name] both of which are seen as feminine in the US. (I don’t think it was [name]Kiersten[/name]).
According to Google, her mom’s name is [name_u]Julie[/name_u], but she goes by [name_u]Jules[/name_u].
Maybe her parents were fans of [name_m]Jimmy[/name_m] ([name_u]James[/name_u]) [name_m]Stewart[/name_m]. As an aside my grandma was a huge [name_m]Jimmy[/name_m] [name_m]Stewart[/name_m] fan and named my mom after his daughter. Mostly, I am sure because she liked the name.
