My wonderful wife and I are going to be starting a family in the near future and I am already stressing over baby names. Our goal is four children and we already have possible boy names picked out.
However, girl names are causing me much more anxiety. We’ve already decided that our first daughter will be named [name_f]Harlow[/name_f] Danneel (pronounced “Duh-Kneel”) after my favorite actress Danneel [name_m]Harris[/name_m]-Ackles.
We really like the names:
[name_f]Genevieve[/name_f] [name_u]August[/name_u]
[name_f]Lucy[/name_f] [name_f]Olive[/name_f]
[name_u]Piper[/name_u] [name_u]Quincy[/name_u] “[name_f]Poppy[/name_f]”
[name_f]Do[/name_f] you guys think that [name_f]Harlow[/name_f] is “feminine” enough to be clumped together with [name_f]Genevieve[/name_f], [name_f]Lucy[/name_f], and [name_u]Piper[/name_u]?
We just really don’t want to introduce our kids and have people think, ’ Wow, they must really hate that one kid’.
I think [name_f]Harlow[/name_f] would go very nicely with the rest of your names. I could picture a sibset of [name_f]Genevieve[/name_f], [name_f]Lucy[/name_f], [name_f]Poppy[/name_f], and [name_f]Harlow[/name_f].
I think that [name_f]Genevieve[/name_f] and [name_f]Lucy[/name_f] go together. Maybe if [name_u]Piper[/name_u] became [name_f]Poppy[/name_f], then [name_f]Genevieve[/name_f], [name_f]Lucy[/name_f], and [name_f]Poppy[/name_f] could work. I just don’t see [name_f]Harlow[/name_f] here, sorry.
I think it actually works really well with your other names. [name_f]Genevieve[/name_f], [name_f]Lucy[/name_f], [name_u]Piper[/name_u], and [name_f]Harlow[/name_f] all seem to cover a different aspect of feminine female names. [name_f]Genevieve[/name_f] is longer, vintage, more of a tradition feminine name. [name_f]Lucy[/name_f] is short and sweet, its got a long history but still manages to feel current. [name_u]Piper[/name_u] is spunky and more of a “now” or 'trendy" name if you will, having only recently gained in popularity. [name_f]Harlow[/name_f] is a little more edgy but still maintains a feminine side with connection to [name_u]Jean[/name_u] [name_f]Harlow[/name_f], bringing back images of Old Hollywood. [name_f]Harlow[/name_f], for me at least, is a time capsule reflecting the past and giving a glimpse into baby naming trends of the near future. So in short, I feel [name_f]Harlow[/name_f] is a wonderful name choice, even more so when measured up with your other names.
Thank you so much for your thoughtful opinion. I really love how you think all our name choices show a different side of feminine names. It really means so much!
Thanks for the assurance that all my names fit together and that [name_f]Harlow[/name_f] is feminine enough to be paired with names like [name_f]Genevieve[/name_f] and [name_f]Lucy[/name_f].
[name_u]Piper[/name_u] and [name_f]Harlow[/name_f] sound like sisters, and [name_f]Genevieve[/name_f] and [name_f]Lucy[/name_f] sound like sisters. I wouldn’t expect all four to come from the same family though.
