For over a year of TTC DH and I agreed on [name_f]Alice[/name_f] [name_f]Caroline[/name_f] if we have a girl, but it’s beginning to sound a bit stale lately. I love [name_f]Mabel[/name_f] so much but I’m not sure if it really goes with [name_f]Caroline[/name_f] which we decided to use after my mom. What do you guys think?
I love this. But I love names that most people would call “frumpy.” I don’t think this is, though. [name_f]Caroline[/name_f] definitely isn’t, as it is kind of ‘in’ now. But [name_f]Mabel[/name_f], I feel, is due for a comeback. I don’t think it sounds frumpy, I think it sounds perfect.
I really like it! We have [name_f]Amelia[/name_f] [name_f]Caroline[/name_f] in our top picks.
I like [name_f]Alice[/name_f] [name_f]Caroline[/name_f], but I understand how names get stale after a while. [name_f]Mable[/name_f] does sound a little dusty, but like someone else said it is due for a comeback. Why not just name her [name_f]Caroline[/name_f] as a first name?
I like it, surprisingly! I’m not really a [name_f]Mabel[/name_f] fan at all–I don’t see the appeal, and I don’t find it cute, and I can’t see it on a little girl at all, but [name_f]Mabel[/name_f] [name_f]Caroline[/name_f] is really sweet! There’s just something about it, and I find it totally usable. For some reason, the classic [name_f]Caroline[/name_f] makes [name_f]Mabel[/name_f] feel more modern, and yet timeless, I think [name_f]Mabel[/name_f] [name_f]Caroline[/name_f] is fantastic!
I love the name [name_f]Mabel[/name_f]. I also think [name_f]Caroline[/name_f] is a lovely classic. But… there is something about the two names together I don’t care for. It’s possible that they are too similar in feel and style. If you think about it, [name_f]Mabel[/name_f] and [name_f]Carol[/name_f] almost rhyme. So, it’s not so much “frumpy” as it is unexciting, imo. But, I think [name_f]Mabel[/name_f] is too good not to use, and since [name_f]Caroline[/name_f] is an honour name, the personal meaning must be more important than finding the most beautiful combination. I’d use [name_f]Mabel[/name_f] in a heartbeat.
I think [name_f]Mabel[/name_f] [name_f]Caroline[/name_f] is a really great combo! It originally took some time for [name_f]Mabel[/name_f] to grow on me, but I really like it. [name_f]Imagine[/name_f] if there was a cute little girl for me to attach the name to- it would take me even quicker to love the name [name_f]Mabel[/name_f]!
I can see where you’re coming from. It does sound a touch frumpy. But I do love [name_f]Mabel[/name_f]! It might need a slightly frillier or possibly more modern middle name to dust it off a bit
I’m not a huge [name_f]Caroline[/name_f] fan myself, but I like the combo a lot!
[name_f]Mabel[/name_f] [name_f]Caroline[/name_f] is fine.
I think it is gorgeous. [name_f]Mabel[/name_f] is such a cute name x
Maybe [name_f]Mabel[/name_f] [name_f]Carolina[/name_f] would sound a little less frumpy? Although it wouldn’t be the exact name [name_f]Caroline[/name_f] so it wouldn’t be as dedicated? Some other possible combos I can think of are:
[name_f]Mariana[/name_f] [name_f]Caroline[/name_f]
[name_f]Edith[/name_f] [name_f]Caroline[/name_f]
[name_f]Anneliese[/name_f] [name_f]Caroline[/name_f]
[name_f]Harriet[/name_f] [name_f]Caroline[/name_f]/ [name_f]Harriette[/name_f] [name_f]Caroline[/name_f]
[name_f]Hope[/name_f] you like, and I think [name_f]Mabel[/name_f] [name_f]Caroline[/name_f] isn’t TOO frumpy if it’s the name you love!
I’ve always liked [name_f]Mabel[/name_f] in spite of the slightly frumpy image and I agree it’s on it’s way back. I think [name_f]Mabel[/name_f] [name_f]Caroline[/name_f] is fresher than [name_f]Alice[/name_f] [name_f]Caroline[/name_f] because I agree, [name_f]Alice[/name_f] is a little overdone.
I think [name_f]Mabel[/name_f] [name_f]Caroline[/name_f] sounds nice, but if you wanted to dust it off any more, all you’d have to do is pick a more modern version of [name_f]Caroline[/name_f], like [name_f]Carolina[/name_f] or [name_f]Carina[/name_f]. This sort of honor name is very widely used today (variations on the original name). [name_f]Hope[/name_f] this helps!

[name_f]Mabel[/name_f] [name_f]Caroline[/name_f] is gorgeous.
No, it sounds charming and old-fashioned.
I think [name_f]Mabel[/name_f] [name_f]Caroline[/name_f] is really sweet! Not frumpy at all. I think it’s a fun, youthful name. I prefer it to [name_f]Alice[/name_f] [name_f]Caroline[/name_f] flow-wise, but [name_f]Alice[/name_f] is sweet too. Good luck!
I prefer [name_f]Alice[/name_f] [name_f]Caroline[/name_f] the name just feels prettier. Whereas I don’t see the appeal of [name_f]Mabel[/name_f] I think it’s a dusty name that I can see people wanting to bring into the forefront but I am not keen. [name_f]Mabel[/name_f] to me is frumpy. A name which is similar to [name_f]Mabel[/name_f] visually but feels fresher and prettier is [name_f]Maple[/name_f]. I really love [name_f]Maple[/name_f] [name_f]Caroline[/name_f] so pretty.
I personally don’t find [name_f]Mabel[/name_f] [name_f]Caroline[/name_f] frumpy at all! Have you read The Enchanted Castle, by E. [name_m]Nesbit[/name_m]? It was published in the 1900’s, but it has a character named [name_f]Mabel[/name_f] and I’ve felt endearment for the name since reading it some 15-20 years ago. [name_f]Mabel[/name_f] [name_f]Caroline[/name_f] may feel a bit more quaint than the regal [name_f]Alice[/name_f] [name_f]Caroline[/name_f], but she’s equally as lovely.
I definitely prefer [name_f]Alice[/name_f] [name_f]Caroline[/name_f]. I don’t see the appeal with [name_f]Mabel[/name_f]-- too frumpy m, old-lady [name_f]IMO[/name_f]. I do however like the previous suggestion of [name_f]Caroline[/name_f] [name_f]Mabel[/name_f].
