I’m not talking about the ppl who think music or PLL or that there’s a difference between Aria/Arya. I think that’s the minority.

I’m talking about the general majority of ppl who first heard the name on GOT, which I feel like is most ppl 25+ because even if you didn’t watch the show it was such a loud cultural moment in time.

I know in some areas the name is popular now, but I don’t know any [name_f]Arias[/name_f] (I’m in NY in my early 30s and all my peers are becoming parents) so for me I immediately think GOT. It’s pretty but the association is there.

Is it just me or do other ppl think that too?
GoT did cross my mind, but I also immediately thought “wait wasn’t that Arya” and “there’s also the music”. To a lesser degree I also think of Aryans as in the Indo-Iranian people (and the historical misuse of their name by the Germans), but that one probably does make me an absolute minority!
[name_f][/name_f]For reference, I’m 30, have watched the show and read all the books.

It’s a thought, but it’s not my first[name_f][/name_f] thought. [name_f]Aria[/name_f] had such a moment a few years ago that its various cultural associations feel much less intense than they did previously. I’ve known at least three little Aria’s. It’s a beautiful name, regardless of pop culture!
It does if you mention it but I wouldn’t assume a girl named [name_f]Aria[/name_f] was named after the character from GOT or PLL.
I would assume that with [name_f]Arya[/name_f] but not [name_f]Aria[/name_f]. I know you said you’re not talking about the difference between Arya/Aria but I can’t really talk about this without that! I was hugely into the show, for context, and there are actually two little girls who come to the place I volunteer called [name_f]Arya[/name_f] and [name_f]Aria[/name_f]. I totally assumed the first one was inspired by GOT and pronounced it ar-yah like the show, only to have her snap at me that ‘it’s ar-ee-ah’
[name_f][/name_f] whereas the other one, I didn’t make that same assumption at all. To me [name_f]Aria[/name_f] with that spelling is just a pretty musical name that hits all the big name trends in [name_m]England[/name_m] rn (starts with A, short and sweet, heavy on a/r/y sounds).

I vaguely think of Game of Thrones, but not in an overwhelming way, if that makes sense. [name_f][/name_f] [name_f][/name_f] [name_f][/name_f] I’ve encountered a number of little [name_f]Arias[/name_f] though which probably helps
