Does this look too made up?

I’ve loved the name [name_f]Lucia[/name_f] (pronounced loo-CHEE-uh) for years, but it’s never made it onto my lists because I worry people would pronounce it loo-SEE-uh, which I don’t like as much. I recently met someone called Luchia, and the name made quite an impression on me. I don’t usually like spelling variations, but this name looks at least as pretty as [name_f]Lucia[/name_f], in my opinion, and would get rid of any ambiguity in regards to pronunciation. Does this spelling variation look too made up?

Also, does anyone have any middle name suggestions that fit the theme in my signature?

I don’t know if it would necessarily get rid of pronunciation issues. The only [name_f]Lucia[/name_f] I’ve known pronounced it LOO-sha so it makes me feel like that spelling is versatile enough for it to be fine.

Some middle names:

[name_f]Lucia[/name_f] [name_f]Marigold[/name_f]
[name_f]Lucia[/name_f] [name_f]Verity[/name_f]
[name_f]Lucia[/name_f] [name_f]Rosaline[/name_f]
[name_f]Lucia[/name_f] [name_u]Eden[/name_u]
[name_f]Lucia[/name_f] [name_f]Camille[/name_f]
[name_f]Lucia[/name_f] [name_f]Eveline[/name_f]

I dislike the look of Luchia, the h looks unnecessary to me. It doesn’t look overly kre8ifv, though. I really like [name_f]Lucia[/name_f] and think it would be really easy to correct pronunciations since both are common and familiar.

I prefer the look of [name_f]Lucia[/name_f] and I think the pronunciation could be corrected easily. I don’t think Luchia looks too made up though

I’ve always pronounced [name_f]Lucia[/name_f] [name_u]Lou[/name_u]-chee-uh but it was my great grandmother’s name and that’s how she pronounced it.

Like others have said, I think the H is unnecessary and would probably lead to more pronunciation issues (CH can also be pronounced as a sh- and in Italian the CH combination sounds like a K, so [name_u]Lou[/name_u]-KEE-uh might also happen.)

Honestly, all 3 pronunciations are beautiful and it’s easy enough to correct someone who says her name wrong.

When I look at it, I see “luchador” or “lucha libre.” I probably wouldn’t use something that reminded me of wrestling.

I don’t think it would be a hard pronunciation to deal with; I think most people have probably heard at least two of the three variations of this name, so it wouldn’t be out of the ordinary or even unexpected.

I think if you do a spelling variant Luccia is the way to go.

I think [name_f]Lucia[/name_f] is beautiful and many people would pronounce it correctly. I don’t think Luchia would necessarily make it any easier. You would probably get people pronouncing it to rhyme with “clutch” . I’m just saying I think it’s one of those names that you will have to correct people no matter what! But I also don’t think that is a big deal! It’s a beautiful name and I think you should use it.

[name_f]Lucia[/name_f] is a tricky one for sure. We love it too but are sort of thrown off it because of the three different but completely legitimate spelling variations. I’m part Swedish and we have celebrated St. [name_f]Lucia[/name_f] much of my life. My instinct is to pronounce it Loo-see-uh. My sister considered this for her daughter.
I don’t think the spelling variation is made up looking necessarily. If I met your daughter and you corrected me on the pronunciation, I would completely understand and pronounce it the way you prefer. I would personally keep the original spelling, but I would also understand why you didn’t. That’s tricky! Good luck!
