[name]Catalina[/name]: first and foremost a name or a salad dressing?
Thanks
[name]Catalina[/name] is Spanish for [name]Catherine[/name] so my first association was for place name of [name]Santa[/name] [name]Catalina[/name] Island (aka [name]Catalina[/name] Island) off the coast of Los [name]Angeles[/name], [name]California[/name]. I guess some people would think of the salad dressing but itās still a pretty name.
Okay, thanksā¦
I read the title and before I even opened the thread, I could guess you would be asking about [name]Catalina[/name] ā¦so yes, I do think of the salad dressing right away. Beautiful name, though!
Iāve always had my salads without dressing, so no, not for me. LOL. But I suppose many people might. Iāve never associated [name]Catalina[/name] with salad dressing though, if that makes you feel betterā¦
Not at first. The first thing I think is⦠āooh that is a pretty and unusual name.ā
I do have a non-person association - a yacht, not a food. Doesnāt make me not like the name.
I used to love [name]Catalina[/name] back when I thought it was (ca-ta-lee-na). Now that I realize itās (cat-ta-lee-na), I donāt like it anymore. When I was still pronouncing it wrong, I always paired [name]Caterina[/name] with [name]Catalina[/name]. You could use [name]Caterina[/name] if the salad dressing bothers you unless itās the Spanish origin youāre after. I prefer Italian names more than Spanish ones. I just canāt post without being personal about the names. So now back to answering the question.
No, I canāt imagine [name]Catalina[/name] on the label of a salad dressing bottle in the aisle next to French, Italian, and Ranch.
As much as I want to say No, I have to say YES.
I also knew exactly what name you were going to say before opening this. A couple we are friends with thought of using this name for their child and while I think it is a beautiful name, the husband is a cook which I think makes the salad dressing association even worse in their case. It is a beautiful name though if you can get over the ālike the dressing?ā question.
I didnāt think I wouldāve thought of the dressing if that were not the title of your post. I think itās a pretty name and not overused!
I didnāt even know that [name]Catalina[/name] was a salad dressing, LOL. I love the name- itās so melodic and romantic, with the spunky nn [name]Cat[/name] as an option.
I love the name [name]Catalina[/name], and itās actually on my long list right now for my baby! Iām sure some people would think of the dressing, but I hardly ever hear of anyone even using that dressing anymore, so I bet that association will begin to matter less and less. It makes me think of the island, which is really beautiful: http://www.google.com/images?client=safari&rls=en&q=catalina+island&oe=UTF-8&um=1&ie=UTF-8&source=univ&ei=e5UgTYH9JM6hngeDvbSaDg&sa=X&oi=image_result_group&ct=title&resnum=4&ved=0CFAQsAQwAw&biw=1194&bih=617
I got married on [name]Catalina[/name] Island and so have been thinking about that name a lot (well that and the townās name [name]Avalon[/name]) and it never occurred to me once that it was the name of a salad dressing!! So, no, I think it is safe. It actually reminds me of My Name Is [name]Earl[/name] which is why I lean towards [name]Avalon[/name].
I know a [name]Catalina[/name] in her 20s, born in Romania. Itās a gorgeous name! Yes, itās also a salad dressing but if you love the name enough donāt let that stop you. Itās not like naming her āViagraā or something where nearly everyone has the same associationā¦
First and foremost an island.
I donāt know that Iāve heard of the salad dressing.
Iāve never heard of [name]Catalina[/name] salad dressing; my thoughts immediately went to the island. My dressing of choice is [name]Dorothy[/name] [name]Lynch[/name], and I have NEVER thought to connect the name [name]Dorothy[/name] to the dressing. Itās a beautiful name and I donāt think you have any worries
Thanks everybody! Haha VIAGRA?!?!
Honestly, I did think of the dressing, mostly because itās my dadās fav. My second thought was of My Name is [name]Earl[/name].
However, I donāt think thatās any reason not to use it if you love it. There are lots of names that have other associations, like [name]Olive[/name] or [name]Harley[/name], and yet they are still used as names.
I donāt think of the dressing at all! go for it!
