We have a daughter named [name_f]Delphine[/name_f] and are struggling to come up with another girl’s name that we both love. My favourite is [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f] but my husband says he doesn’t like it. I also really like [name_f]Rosalind[/name_f], but am hesitant because I don’t really like the [name_f]Roz[/name_f] nickname. My husband really likes [name_f]Annette[/name_f], and I like it also, but worry it sounds a bit dated.
So I was at a garage sale a few months ago and picked up a $2 print that I loved at first sight not knowing it was a [name_m]Picasso[/name_m] print. It is one of his [name_f]Sylvette[/name_f] paintings. [name_f]Sylvette[/name_f] was his muse and he painted her many times. I think the most famous is called The Girl with the Ponytail. Anyways, it got me thinking that [name_f]Sylvette[/name_f] is half of his and half of my favourite names. Then today I was at an estate sale rifling through books and the first one I picked up was a book about [name_f]Sylvette[/name_f].
Anyways I’m back to thinking about this name again, and I know it is really rare but does it sound like a made up kre8ive smoosh name? [name_f]Do[/name_f] you think it’s useable or should we stick to something more familiar?
I don’t think [name_f]Sylvette[/name_f] sounds made up! I think it’s sweet and elegant, and it works very well with [name_f]Delphine[/name_f]. Assuming you both like it, I think it’s great because it is a nice middle ground between [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f] and [name_f]Annette[/name_f]. Plus, you’ve got a nice story to go with it, and it has the connection to [name_m]Picasso[/name_m] which is a nice cultural grounding for the name.
[name_f]Delphine[/name_f] and [name_f]Sylvette[/name_f] are gorgeous together! Both not your average names, but both classy, unique, and not too difficult or made-up-sounding. [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f] is a cute nickname!
[name_f]Sylvette[/name_f] is actually super cute. I would go for a shorter, maybe more classic middle. I also do love Rosalind if pronounced like Rose-uh-lind. Rose, Lynn, Lindy, and Rosa could all be nicknames.
Oh my gosh, how perfect together! [name_f]Delphine[/name_f] & [name_f]Sylvette[/name_f] are absolutely dreamy - and you could possibly sneak in the nickname [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f] LOL.
No, but seriously, it sounds like both your favorites combined but really is it’s own name- it seems meant to be!
