OH and I have narrowed our girl list down to:
[name]Lauren[/name] [name]Serena[/name]
[name]Emily[/name] [name]Serena[/name]
[name]Isla[/name] [name]Serena[/name]
[name]Ruby[/name] [name]Serena[/name]
He is most keen on [name]Lauren[/name] whereas I prefer [name]Ruby[/name] by far, I think [name]Lauren[/name] is pretty, has family meaning for me but it’s a bit common. OH is adamant that [name]Ruby[/name] is a dogs name I think it’s just gorgeous though!
Any opinions?
Any suggestions in a similar vein to those mentioned?
LOL [name]Ruby[/name] is definitely NOT a dog’s name!! My favorite on your list would be [name]Isla[/name] [name]Lauren[/name] fallowed by [name]Ruby[/name] [name]Lauren[/name]. [name]Lauren[/name] as a first to me is a bit dated. Beautiful still, but a little tired being that I grew up as a child of the 80s and I went to school with a ton of [name]Laurens[/name]. Actually I would have to say the same about [name]Emily[/name]. Doesnt change the fact that they are pretty names I think they just need a little resting time before they sound new and fresh again. Good [name]Luck[/name]
lol, I agree that [name]Ruby[/name] isn’t a dog’s name at all! [name]Molly[/name], [name]Maggie[/name], or [name]Bailey[/name], maybe, but I can’t see [name]Ruby[/name] on a dog at all.
I really like [name]Isla[/name] [name]Serena[/name] and [name]Ruby[/name] [name]Serena[/name]. Is there meaning behind [name]Serena[/name]? I think it’s just gorgeous and would love to see [name]Serena[/name] [name]Ruby[/name] or [name]Serena[/name] [name]Lauren[/name]… that way, you could keep the significance of [name]Lauren[/name] without using it as a FN…
I know a dog named [name]Ruby[/name], but I don’t think that makes it a dog name. But then, more and more people are naming their pets “people names” (I know dogs and cats names [name]Matilda[/name], [name]Khloe[/name] [name]Ann[/name] (yes…cat had a middle name), [name]Amelia[/name], [name]Milo[/name], [name]Holly[/name]) and their kids “pet names” ([name]River[/name], [name]Daisy[/name], etc). I think the name statistics in other countries should that [name]Ruby[/name] is very much a people name, though–it’s #3 most popular for girls in Australia.
My cat’s name is [name]Asher[/name], and I don’t consider that really a cat name, haha. Anything can be a dog name really. I don’t consider [name]Ruby[/name] more on the “dog side” at all. I know someone that recently named their daughter this and I thought it was adorable!
[name]Lauren[/name] [name]Serena[/name] - I like this, but feel it is dated to the 80’s and 90’s
[name]Emily[/name] [name]Serena[/name] - this is my fav. of your list
[name]Isla[/name] [name]Serena[/name] - this is my second fav.
[name]Ruby[/name] [name]Serena[/name] - I like this, but don’t feel it would work well on an adult. I think [name]Serena[/name] [name]Ruby[/name] would be perfect though and would by far be my vote for a name!
I guess I have an affinity for dog names! [name]Ruby[/name] is my daughter’s name, so obviously I love it. I’ve never heard that one called a dog’s name though. I did hear it all the time about a couple of our other favorites-- [name]Sadie[/name] and [name]Lucy[/name]. We strongly considered both of those this time around for our girl due in [name]April[/name], but our neighbor’s dog is named [name]Sadie[/name] which I think was the nail in the coffin for us.
But-- these people are giving their dogs people names. [name]Ruby[/name] was a person’s name long before it was any dog’s name. The only true dog names [name]IMO[/name] are those like Rover, Fido, and Spot… names that (to my knowledge) were not people names first!
I definitely don’t think [name]Ruby[/name] is a “dog” name, and [name]Ruby[/name] [name]Serena[/name] would be my choice out of your list. I love [name]Isla[/name], but I just think the flow is a little off with [name]Serena[/name]. I absolutely adore [name]Serena[/name], though, and I think [name]Serena[/name] [name]Ruby[/name] would be even more fabulous!
I think [name]Ruby[/name] is adorable, I would consider using it but I know two dogs named [name]Ruby[/name]. I think it would be fine as long as you don’t know any dogs name [name]Ruby[/name] that you see often. I have a dog named [name]Wyatt[/name] and know two people who have since named their sons [name]Wyatt[/name] and no one has issues.
Nameberry on Facebook actually shared an interesting article about this recently:
[name]Ruby[/name] is on the list, but it’s #31. I’ve never met a dog named [name]Ruby[/name], and I wouldn’t consider it to be an obvious “dog’s name.”
[name]Hi[/name] ashthedreamer, yes [name]Lauren[/name] and [name]Serena[/name] both hold particular significance for me, [name]Lauren[/name] was my sister who unfortunately died as an infant and [name]Serena[/name] is my half sister who I only found a year ago and as it turns out she is now 14, the same age [name]Lauren[/name] would be if she was still around…kind of a happy/sad story, if I don’t use serena’s name I will make her godmother!
