I am really crushing on [name_f]Dolores[/name_f] lately. Is it still useable or way too old-fashioned? Also, I was wondering if [name_f]Dot[/name_f] makes sense as a nickname. I think it’s so adorable, but would it be better if the middle name started with a T? Or just not use it at all? Are there any names starting with T that sounds good with [name_f]Dolores[/name_f]? I can’t think of anything I like. Thanks so much in advance!
I think it’s usable, I love the nn [name_f]Dolly[/name_f] for [name_f]Dolores[/name_f]
I love [name_f]Dolores[/name_f]! I think it’s bound to get a revival sometime soon. It’s romantic, vintage and with spunky nicknames! My favorite is [name_f]Dolly[/name_f] but [name_f]Dot[/name_f] and [name_f]Dottie[/name_f] definitely work too. Another option is [name_f]Dodie[/name_f], [name_m]Des[/name_m], [name_u]Desi[/name_u] or [name_f]Lola[/name_f]. I don’t think there’s a need to use a T middle name to get to [name_f]Dot[/name_f], but if you’re still unsure I like the sound of [name_f]Dolores[/name_f] [name_u]True[/name_u], [name_f]Dolores[/name_f] [name_f]Theodora[/name_f] and [name_f]Dolores[/name_f] [name_u]Tate[/name_u].
I think it’s cute with lots of nn options:)
Thanks everyone! Now if only I can think of a middle name.
[name_f]Adelie[/name_f] maybe? I have no idea. Maybe something bright and springy?
Like the previous posters, I think you’ll find that a lot of people find it vintage and sweet, so when I state my opinion, please bear in mind that I’m probably in the minority! I personally just can’t get behind [name_f]Dolores[/name_f] because I find it dated and old-fashioned, but I do see the appeal… I think it’s also because of my loathing for [name_f]Dolores[/name_f] Umbridge that I dislike the name! It does have many cute nickname options though, [name_f]Dottie[/name_f] is sweet.
[name_f]Dottie[/name_f] is always cute and I love both [name_f]Dolores[/name_f] and [name_f]Delores[/name_f]
[name_f]Dolores[/name_f] is very grandma for me but I do like [name_f]Dot[/name_f] or [name_f]Dottie[/name_f].
I always thought it was a little too fusty…until [name_u]Evan[/name_u] [name_f]Rachel[/name_f] [name_m]Wood[/name_m] breathed new life into it in Westworld. Now I can ONLY see [name_f]Dolores[/name_f] as strong, beautiful, and romantic. The jury’s out on whether I’d ever use it, though.
[name_f]Dot[/name_f] doesn’t seem like too far of a stretch at all. I like [name_f]Lolly[/name_f], [name_f]Lola[/name_f], and [name_f]Lolo[/name_f].
For a T middle, I like [name_f]Dolores[/name_f] [name_f]Therese[/name_f]
I really love [name_f]Dolores[/name_f]. It has been very high up on my list before and I think of [name_f]Dolores[/name_f] only positively, but she doesn’t fit my narrow criteria these days.
Whether or not it’s ‘usable’ is a different and more difficult question. My taste tends to lean towards (what most people would describe as) ‘‘unusuable’’ lol so I actually can’t really say. I would encourage people to use more daring names in general, whether or not [name_f]Dolores[/name_f] is one.
Also. Some middles. Beginning with T or bright and springy…
[name_f]Dolores[/name_f] [name_f]Thessaly[/name_f]
[name_f]Dolores[/name_f] [name_u]Tierney[/name_u] (very Irish Catholic, I love this)
[name_f]Dolores[/name_f] [name_f]Theda[/name_f]
[name_f]Dolores[/name_f] [name_f]Tuesday[/name_f] (oh! I like this a lot)
[name_f]Dolores[/name_f] [name_f]Twyla[/name_f]
[name_f]Dolores[/name_f] [name_f]Talia[/name_f]
[name_f]Dolores[/name_f] [name_f]Thisbe[/name_f]
[name_f]Dolores[/name_f] [name_f]Tallulah[/name_f]
[name_f]Dolores[/name_f] Azula (love this)
[name_f]Dolores[/name_f] [name_f]Aminta[/name_f]
[name_f]Dolores[/name_f] [name_f]Coraline[/name_f]
[name_f]Dolores[/name_f] [name_f]Zoe[/name_f]
[name_f]Dolores[/name_f] [name_f]Thea[/name_f]
[name_f]Dolores[/name_f] [name_f]Willa[/name_f]
[name_f]Dolores[/name_f] [name_f]Daisy[/name_f] (always an alliteration fan)
[name_f]Dolores[/name_f] [name_u]Rowen[/name_u]
[name_f]Dolores[/name_f] [name_f]Avia[/name_f]
[name_f]Dolores[/name_f] Hadie
[name_f]Dolores[/name_f] [name_f]Keturah[/name_f]
[name_f]Dolores[/name_f] [name_f]Lark[/name_f]
[name_f]Dolores[/name_f] [name_f]Giselle[/name_f]
[name_f]Dolores[/name_f] [name_f]Eluned[/name_f]
[name_f]Dolores[/name_f] [name_f]Ffion[/name_f]
I personally don’t like it. But, like others have said, it offers some of the cutest nicknames. [name_f]Dolly[/name_f], [name_f]Lolly[/name_f], and [name_f]Lola[/name_f] are my favs!
Thanks so much everyone!
I love it…
I think [name_f]Dolores[/name_f] is usable, but the nickname [name_f]Lolita[/name_f] is not. It’s an old fashioned name but so are a lot of names still used today ([name_f]Edith[/name_f], [name_m]Arthur[/name_m], [name_f]Harriet[/name_f], [name_m]Charles[/name_m]…) and (minus [name_f]Lolita[/name_f]) there are a lot of cute nn options.
I love this kind of name, but I don’t love the meaning of [name_f]Dolores[/name_f]. That said, I think [name_f]Dolores[/name_f] [name_f]Therese[/name_f] works well and could get you to [name_f]Dot[/name_f].
I think [name_f]Dolores[/name_f] is real cute! It may be dated, but especially if you’ll at least occasionally use a nickname like [name_f]Dot[/name_f]/[name_f]Dottie[/name_f], I think it fits in well with the more common names, i.e. [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f]/[name_f]Ellie[/name_f]. The only thing I am apprehensive about is the [name_f]Lolita[/name_f] reference.
Some potential middle names:
[name_f]Dolores[/name_f] [name_f]Tess[/name_f] / [name_f]Tessa[/name_f]
[name_f]Dolores[/name_f] [name_f]Theodora[/name_f]
[name_f]Dolores[/name_f] [name_f]Therese[/name_f] / [name_f]Theresa[/name_f]
[name_f]Dolores[/name_f] [name_f]Thomasin[/name_f]
I think [name_f]Dolores[/name_f] is dated, but a great kid could bring it back
My nickname of choice would probably be [name_f]Lola[/name_f].
[name_u]Love[/name_u] it. The meaning is a little bit of a negative but the nickname options make it irresistible.
I plan on using [name_f]Dolores[/name_f] to honor my grandmother and SO and I settled on the nickname [name_f]Lora[/name_f], but I think it’s a great unused vintage name in general.
