Through work I know a male [name]Dominique[/name]. I know it can be used as a male or female name but can’t seem to find much in the way of stats outside of the US where it seems to be a more female oriented name. Curious what others experiences are and thoughts on the name as a male or female name.
[name]Dominique[/name] is a French unisex name but it “looks” more feminine to me. It’s actually more popular as a boys name in the US than a girls name which is surprising. I prefer [name]Dominic[/name] for a boy myself. See SSA stats below

According to aufeminin.com 12,000 boys and 10,334 girls in [name]France[/name] have been given this name since 1900 (it peaked around 1958 for both) it looks like it’s more popular for boys now but I would use it for either. I have a cousin over there who put it on her list for a girl
I think those numbers are off, another site said 409,441 people have been given the name which makes more sense, I’m not sure what year those numbers are from (I think when it peaked) but it’s ranked 40th in the top 50 names since 1900. Here’s a link for more info Prénom Dominique : tout sur le prénom Dominique - Famili.fr (the info is the same for boys)
I’ve always thought of [name]Dominic[/name] as a boy’s name and [name]Dominique[/name] as a girl’s name.
That’s exactly what I thought.
