Dora?

I used to hate this name because I grew up with the TV show unfortunately. But do you think it’s useable yet? It definitely fits in with the clunkier, old lady names I’m liking!

I don’t think it’s usable, yet. I feel like it’s still wayyy too tied to the show
if the show is around once the kid is in school, I imagine they’d be bullied for it to some extent

I’ve met a young-ish [name_f]Dora[/name_f] who wore it really well! I love it in theory, although I do think it’s a brave choice.

I think it’s usable! Yes there is [name_f]Dora[/name_f] the explorer, however I don’t feel like the show is as popular as it once was, and since it was released almost 20 years ago, the kids who grew up with it are becoming moms now.

Not sure why the show is such a bad association! It’s a sweet, vintage name.

I don’t associate it with the show that much, and even thought I prefer it as a nickname for [name_f]Isadora[/name_f] or [name_f]Dorothea[/name_f], it’s cute, fresh and usable!

I think it’s usable! I know a dora (short for isadora) who wears it well. as someone who grew up with a cartoon name, it’s not as bad as you would think. people mention it when you introduce yourself, but it was never mean (and mine is more mockable than dora). it’s also a very sweet name.

I love the cute, clunky [name_f]Dora[/name_f]. I think it could work, so long as you don’t mind the occasional explorer comments

Dora does fit in with that clunky old lady vibe but I don’t feel that it’s usable yet I feel that the tv show association is too strong still.

I’ve been loving [name_f]Adora[/name_f] of recent that could be a good [name_f]Dora[/name_f] alternative for you?

I don’t like [name_f]Dora[/name_f] as a standalone, but I absolutely love it as a nickname for [name_f]Isadora[/name_f]

Im not sure it’s ready for revival yet which is sad because it’s beautiful. It’s also my great grandmother’s name.

i love [name_f]Dora[/name_f]!! I don’t think it’s too tied to the show. And, the show isn’t that bad of an association anyways.
There may be an occasional explorer comment, but it’s more likely to be from adults or teenagers than her peers.

I think it’s usable. [name_f]Dora[/name_f] the [name_u]Explorer[/name_u] is getting old, anyway  I knew a [name_f]Dora[/name_f] (must be 16 or 17 now), she didn’t have any issues with it

The sound of [name_f]Dora[/name_f] doesn’t appeal to me personally, but I think it’s usable. I could be wrong, but I don’t think the TV show is as popular with children now as it was ten or fifteen years ago.

I think it could come back in the near future!

I love the name [name_f]Dora[/name_f]! The association with the TV show is very strong and it will come up but I don’t think that should stop you from using a name you love. It could also be a nickname for [name_f]Isadora[/name_f] or [name_f]Theodora[/name_f], and if she doesn’t like the nickname there are always other options like [name_f]Sadie[/name_f] and [name_u]Teddy[/name_u] or [name_f]Thea[/name_f].
