I like the name [name]Emily[/name], but there are so many out there. I want to put a little twist on it and am trying to think of short double names. That way, [name]Emily[/name] won’t turn her head in a crowd as much when someone yells “[name]Emily[/name]!” If another short name was tacked on, she could know for sure when people were talking to her. However, I also worry that double names can be a mouthful, esp. with a three-syllable like [name]Emily[/name] in front, and worry it might grow awkward as [name]Emily[/name] introduces herself as an adult because lots of people don’t “get” double names.
Any other double-name folks out there who can weigh in on how hard it is to introduce yourself, then get the message across that your name is a double and get people to stick with it?
Is [name]Emily[/name] too long to tack on a quick one syllable double name?
Here are ones I like so far, but I’m open to others. [name]One[/name] syllable would be best.
[name]Emily[/name] [name]Kate[/name]
[name]Emily[/name] [name]Tate[/name] (I know [name]Tate[/name]'s a guy’s name but I think it’s cool!)
[name]Emily[/name] [name]Rose[/name] (another lovely, but frequently used, one)
[name]Emily[/name] [name]Reese[/name]
I like [name]Emily[/name] [name]Rose[/name] from your list! [name]Emily[/name] is a long one to tack on a second name, but I think people will just get used to it. I like some longer double-barrel first names too. [name]Emily[/name] would be beautiful with a second half.
I second [name]Emily[/name] [name]Ann[/name]. I also like [name]Emily[/name] [name]Rose[/name], but I have to admit: every [name]Emily[/name] I do know has the middle name [name]Rose[/name]! Great minds think alike? [name]Emily[/name] [name]Kate[/name]/[name]Tate[/name] are nice as well.
I don’t have a double first name, but people often call me by my full name, or first and middle together. I just have a name that flows. My friends say they enjoy saying my name even though it’s technically common.
I love [name]Emily[/name] [name]Kate[/name]. I also love [name]Emma[/name] [name]Kate[/name]. [name]Emma[/name] is also popular so a double-barrel would be cute with [name]Emma[/name] as well and less of a mouthful than [name]Emily[/name]. I’ve always loved the name [name]Emma[/name] but my DH has a cousin named [name]Emma[/name] so we can’t really use it. [name]Emily[/name] [name]Jane[/name] would be my second favorite.
My name is [name]Emily[/name], and I absolutely hate it. A very pretty name, but was almost a mistake after I was born! (Neither of my parents had considered the name, and was a total spur of the moment thing at the hospital!)
What was said above is completely true, it’s popularity means that you don’t stand a chance when stood in a shopping centre, I hear ‘[name]Em[/name]’ being called constantly! I was never nicknamed ‘[name]Millie[/name]’, but ‘[name]Emmy[/name]’ instead- so that’s another one to consider. It’s too frilly for me personally, but I think the one syllable double-barrel is a great idea (I have no middle names either, which is a bummer!)
[name]Just[/name] some food for thought, I know a million:
[name]Emily[/name] [name]Kate[/name]'s
[name]Emily[/name] [name]May[/name]'s
[name]Emily[/name] [name]Rose[/name]'s
[name]Emily[/name] [name]Jane[/name]/[name]Jayne[/name]'s
and one [name]Emily[/name] [name]Grace[/name]
With a name like [name]Emily[/name] being So popular. You either need something longer like [name]Emmeline[/name]. And nick name her [name]Emily[/name] or have something more uncommon with [name]Emily[/name] as a middle name or you could use them both as a first name.
Although [name]Emily[/name] [name]Rose[/name] is lovely, if you want something truly unique, this is not a option.
My suggestions:
[name]Emily[/name] [name]Rae[/name]
[name]Emily[/name] [name]Jane[/name]
[name]Emily[/name] [name]June[/name]
[name]Emily[/name] [name]Beth[/name]
I think [name]Emily[/name] is too long to take on a second name. There is no way people will call her both all the time. Maybe if it’s her middle name, and you just use it often. But she will still respond to [name]Emily[/name].
