So I thought that we had decided on [name_f]Mae[/name_f] [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] if our [name_u]June[/name_u] baby is a girl. Then, because I can’t stay off nameberry, I came up with a few other options that we like, but now I’m not sure that I like any of them! Most likely this is just pregnancy hormones making me crazy, because I do love [name_f]Mae[/name_f] and have for a while. We also have gotten not quite as good of feedback as I would have expected. People just kind of blankly stare at us like we are crazy. But maybe that’s just me being crazy too lol.
Some other names that we have liked are [name_f]Alice[/name_f] and [name_f]Isabel[/name_f]. [name_u]Haven[/name_u]'t really come up with middles for those though. Our last name sounds like Angleheart but with an E instead of an A at the start. Siblings are [name_m]Isaac[/name_m] and [name_f]Amelia[/name_f].
So I’m just wondering again what you all think. Which do you like best? Is [name_f]Mae[/name_f] not a good first name? Am I just crazy??? I’m open to any other ideas if anything pops in your head! Thanks everyone! : )
I prefer [name_f]Mae[/name_f] as a first name. I think it’s overused as a middle name. I like [name_f]Mae[/name_f] [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] and [name_f]Mae[/name_f] [name_u]Eloise[/name_u].
Not everyone will see it positively because there isn’t a damn thing in the world that everyone agrees on.
I like [name_f]Mae[/name_f] [name_f]Josephine[/name_f]! I do prefer the [name_f]May[/name_f] spelling, but that’s just my preference lol. There’s nothing wrong with [name_f]Mae[/name_f] [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] at all. Some people get incredibly fussy and complain that names like [name_f]Mae[/name_f] are boring, but hey, not everyone wants to name their daughters [name_u]Wren[/name_u] and [name_f]Arabella[/name_f] nameberry favorites…
You do you. The original name you chose obviously meant something for you both to lock it in as your potential daughter’s name. Stick with that congratulations, by the way!
Thank you everyone for being my voice of reason! I think I’ll stick with the name we loved from the start. And maybe I’ll just start telling people we won’t decide on a name til baby comes and leave it at that lol.
All your choices are lovely. [name_f]Mae[/name_f] is a wonderful first name and all your middles go great with it. [name_m]Don[/name_m]'t let other people dictate what you want to name your baby. [name_f]Mae[/name_f] is fresh, not overused and ages well. Go for it!
[name_f]Mae[/name_f] [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] is beautiful! All of your options are great but I think you should go with your first choice.
I had a similar problem when naming my daughter. There are just so many good choices out there! I finally had to tell myself around 5 months pregnant, “let’s just sit with this name for a few weeks and see how it feels” That’s how I determined that was the one. It just felt right after that.
And, yes, I’d advise you not to tell others the name before the baby is born. For some reason that was easer to do with the first one. With this pregnancy I’m itching to share more! I haven’t yet but I’m trying to resist because I don’t want anyone to give me negative reactions to my favorite names!
[name_f]Mae[/name_f] [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] is perfection! I love several of your [name_f]Mae[/name_f] combos. [name_f]Mae[/name_f] is a fantastic choice! We got those same blank stares with our daughter [name_f]Clara[/name_f]. Many people flat out told us they didn’t like it. We don’t regret it for a minute. I don’t think you will either.
I don’t like Alice or Isabel with sibling’s names, also I think Mae/May is overused as middle, but would love to hear it as a first name. Isaac, Amelia, and Mae sound really good together. I think you should stick with your original combo, it has more spunk than the others.
I love all of your combinations, but feel that [name_f]Mae[/name_f] [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] is probably the best option for you, as you liked it best to begin with. You have wonderful taste in names.
[name_f]Mae[/name_f] [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] is a great combination. I love both names, and they go together so well. It’s classic. The people who are giving you strange looks probably like trendy names.
We have an [name_f]Eve[/name_f] [name_f]Josephine[/name_f], which sounds similar. For what it’s worth, we still feel great about it! I like the combo of syllables. It sounds good to my ear. On a rare occasion, we call our daughter [name_f]Evie[/name_f] [name_u]Jo[/name_u].
