Hi! I’ve always been a fan of [name_f]Josephine[/name_f], and it’s definitely going to be a mn for our future baby girl. A middle, because I was the one choosing a first name for the last baby and now it’s DH’s turn. The thing is - he loves LiIith, but I’m not sure whether it goes well with [name_f]Josephine[/name_f]. Should I push [name_f]Lilia[/name_f] instead? [name_u]Or[/name_u] maybe pick another middle (suggestions?)
Lilith [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] sounds and looks great. I think it’s a wonderful choice. I would let him have his choice just as he probably let you have yours. You could maybe bring up [name_f]Lilia[/name_f] but I don’t think it’s any better/worse than [name_f]Lilith[/name_f]
I understand your hesitation about [name_f]Lilith[/name_f]… It’s quite a dark name I think. Dark meaning, kind of sinister sounding… A bit gothic. Which is obviously a very different vibe to [name_f]Josephine[/name_f].
Lilith [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] and [name_f]Lilia[/name_f] [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] are both beautiful but I slightly prefer [name_f]Lilia[/name_f]
I think [name_f]Lilith[/name_f] [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] is very pretty! [name_f]Lilia[/name_f] might be a slightly better match, but I don’t find [name_f]Lilith[/name_f] off at all. Both names feel flowery and sweet.
In my opinion, it’s only fair for your husband to get to use the name he loves, if you got to use the name you loved the first time around, and this was your agreement all along.
How do you feel about [name_f]Lucille[/name_f]? [name_f]Lilith[/name_f] is a nice sound but like others have commented it has a dark/gothic vibe about it which is hard to forget.
Oooh [name_f]Lilith[/name_f] [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] is a favorite combo I’d forgotten about for quite some time! It was actually in the running for my baby brother’s name had he been a girl! I also agree with other posters along the lines of letting him use the name he loves if he did the same for you with your last child. [name_f]Do[/name_f] you mind me asking what your other little one’s name is?
Maybe if [name_f]Lilith[/name_f] is just entirely too gothic for you, maybe ask about his second favorite rather than trying to push a variant he might not be as fond of. I have always, for the record, found [name_f]Lilith[/name_f] to be a very empowering name due to the Hebrew mythology; she was the first woman made for [name_m]Adam[/name_m], even before [name_f]Eve[/name_f], and essentially refused to be controlled by him. I think with more social justice movements going on, citing this as the reason for your choosing the name will flip the switch on any potentially negative connotations! It’s also not as unheard of on children these days as it used to be. It’s one of my top five all time favorite names! Plus, the nn [name_f]Lili[/name_f] is just so sweet and helps balance out the “edgier” vibes of the full name.
Lilia [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] is a GORGEOUS combo. I’m a bit meh on [name_f]Lilith[/name_f] [name_f]Josephine[/name_f]; I’m not a fan of [name_f]Lilith[/name_f] at all personally, but if you both are fine with it, I think [name_f]Lilith[/name_f] works perfectly fine with [name_f]Josephine[/name_f].
I greatly prefer [name_f]Lilith[/name_f] over [name_f]Lilia[/name_f]. [name_f]Lilia[/name_f] just sounds too floral to me. [name_f]Lilith[/name_f] is a stronger but feminine name.
(It is also the name of my cat… so I am a little biased )
Lilith [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] sounds great! You can suggest [name_f]Lilia[/name_f] but it doesn’t flow any better or worse than [name_f]Lilith[/name_f].
You could absolutely suggest [name_f]Lilia[/name_f] to him and see what he says? Show it to him written down and maybe ask him how he feels about the meaning and connotations of [name_f]Lilith[/name_f]? Maybe he hasn’t thought that deeply about it, or maybe he has!
Lilith [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] is lovely, and I think sounds better than [name_f]Lilia[/name_f] [name_f]Josephine[/name_f]. I looove [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] btw.
I would choose [name_f]Lily[/name_f] [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] over both imo. But that’s because I’m not crazy about the whole demon connection to [name_f]Lilith[/name_f]. [name_f]Lily[/name_f] is beautiful and classic if you’re open to another suggestion.
Thank you, everyone for your feedback and suggestions! I’ve shown [name_f]Lilia[/name_f] and other variants to him, he says they just don’t exclude the same powerful vibe as [name_f]Lilith[/name_f] with it’s “refusing to submit” story.
[name_f]My[/name_f] other child’s name is [name_f]Diana[/name_f] [name_f]Primrose[/name_f]. [name_f]Diana[/name_f] means “divine” and represents the [name_f]Goddess[/name_f] of the moon.
Now that I think about it more deeply, [name_f]Lilith[/name_f]’s meaning “of the night” goes pretty well with [name_f]Diana[/name_f]’s.
I was unsure about the flow of LiIith [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] as a combo, but you’ve reassured me
