[name]Hi[/name]!
[name]Eliza[/name]: I voted for [name]Eliza[/name]! It’s one of my favorite names, and I second what [name]Pam[/name] and [name]Linda[/name] wrote about it:
"Okay, we admit it, this one of our favorite names; we love its combination of streamlined modernity and [name]Eliza[/name] Doolittle charm and spunk, and offer it as one of our top recommendations. "
[name]Eleanor[/name]: I love [name]Eleanor[/name], too, and if [name]Eliza[/name] wasn’t on your list, I would have given it my vote. I love the [name]Nell[/name] and [name]Nora[/name] nicknames, too.
[name]Lilah[/name]: I do think it’s beautiful, but I love [name]Eliza[/name] and [name]Eleanor[/name] more, and [name]Lila[/name]/[name]Lilah[/name] is apparently destined for massive popularity.
I love your list!
Good luck!
Hello!
[name]Lilah[/name] - This is a pretty enough name, but I don’t like that H tacked on the end, personally.
[name]Eliza[/name] - I love this! So, so beautiful, feminine, and elegant. It reminds me of [name]Eliza[/name] Doolittle and [name]Eliza/name [name]Bennet[/name], two great literary characters! It freshens up [name]Elizabeth[/name] while still maintaining its vintage integrity.
[name]Eleanor[/name] - I’m not an [name]Eleanor[/name] fan, per se, but I see the appeal. I think my prime problem with [name]Eleanor[/name] is that I don’t much care for its nicknames. [name]Ellie[/name] and [name]Ella[/name] are too childish in my opinion, whereas I just don’t at all care for [name]Nora[/name], personally. I love [name]Nell[/name], and I’m sad it doesn’t get used very often for Miss [name]Eleanor[/name]'s nickname.
Thus, I would hands-down, no-question-about-it, 100% choose [name]Eliza[/name]. It is an absolutely wonderful name!
Congratulations, and good luck!
[name]Lemon[/name]
I like [name]Eliza[/name] mm [name]Liza[/name]. (pronouced lie zah) reminds me Of the wonderful childrens folk singer [name]Elizabeth[/name] mitchells song “[name]Liza[/name] [name]Jane[/name]” 'ohh little [name]Liza[/name] little [name]Liza[/name] [name]Jane[/name]… Oh little [name]Liza[/name] little [name]Liza[/name] [name]Jane[/name]"ok ok I won’t sing anymore but in my head I shall continue…
I actually love all three.
[name]Lilah[/name]- this is my preferred spelling, I think [name]Lila[/name] looks incomplete. If this were 5 years ago, or even 3, I would say to go for [name]Lilah[/name]! But I think it might blend in too much these days. All the L-heavy names are really popular now (there’s a blog about it in the archives. You might want to check it out, because you like the L sound!)
[name]Eliza[/name]- I love [name]Eliza[/name] so much. I, too, will second [name]Pam[/name] and [name]Linda[/name]'s thoughts on it. [name]Eliza[/name] is one of those perfect names.
[name]Eleanor[/name]- Theoretically, I love [name]Eleanor[/name], but it’s a little bland. I love [name]Nora[/name], [name]Ellie[/name], and [name]Nell[/name], though. I think [name]Eleanor[/name] is better as a middle name, but not with [name]Lilah[/name] or [name]Eliza[/name].
So I [name]Love[/name] [name]Eliza[/name] I have a friend with this name and I always thought it was pretty. But how are you going to pronounce it? Hers is [name]Eliza[/name] as in [name]Elizabeth[/name] without the “beth” or is it going to be [name]Eliza[/name] as in A-li-za?
I love that song and have considered naming a child [name]Elizabeth[/name] [name]Jane[/name] nn [name]Liza[/name] [name]Jane[/name] just so I can sing it to her.
[name]Lilah[/name]- [name]Lilah[/name] is pretty but I prefer it without the ‘h’ tacked on at the end. Apparently it’s supposed to reach epidemic popularity though…
[name]Eliza[/name]- I love [name]Eliza[/name]! I completely agree with all [name]Pam[/name] and [name]Linda[/name] said about it. I voted for [name]Eliza[/name] too.
[name]Eleanor[/name]- I love [name]Eleanor[/name] so much as well but I feel like like [name]Eliza[/name] would stand out more among other children her age. [name]Both[/name] names are so beautiful that you can’t go wrong!
Good luck!
[name]Just[/name] take a look at the SSN list at all the different l names:
[name]Lily[/name]
[name]Lillian[/name]
[name]Layla[/name]
[name]Leila[/name]
[name]Laila[/name]
[name]Lilly[/name]
[name]Lillie[/name]
[name]Lila[/name]
Liilah
[name]Lillia[/name]
I know they’re different names, but little [name]Lilah[/name] is going to be friends with Laylas and Lilys…
Thanks everyone for the feedback!
I know [name]Lilah[/name] is becoming very popular, especially when combined with all the other “L” names, but I still just love it. The skyrocketing popularity does, however, give me pause. Husband prefers it with the “h” on the end so I’m spelling it that way; personally I’m fine with either [name]Lila[/name] or [name]Lilah[/name].
[name]Eleanor[/name] used to be a favorite of mine, and it is currently the name husband is lobbying for. I have to agree with him that it is a good, solid, classy name, but I don’t love any of the nickname options, and to be honest it just feels kind of lackluster to me lately.
[name]Eliza[/name] seems to be the winner by a landslide (so far)! I love this name and have since we were pregnant with our first daughter back in 2006. It would be a good compromise for us, but it does not flow well at all with our last name. I guess I need to run another poll to see if it’s really THAT bad, or if the name is usable. So you probably haven’t heard the last of me yet!
Oh, and more comments and votes are always welcome!
That’s funny b/c I voted for [name]Eleanor[/name] (and its on my list of possible names as well) just because I love the nn options - both [name]Nell[/name] and [name]Nora[/name] are wonderful it’s the given name that I’m not as in love with.
I chose [name]Lilah[/name]…how about [name]Lilah[/name] [name]Eleanor[/name]? [name]Lila[/name]/[name]Lilah[/name] is a beautiful name. My second choice is [name]Eliza[/name].
[name]Eliza[/name] is beautiful and so is [name]Lilah[/name] but [name]Eleanor[/name] has so many nn possibilities.
I think [name]Eliza[/name] is beautiful. My hubby won’t go for it but it’s still on my list!! Also beyond the [name]Liza[/name] nn, I met a little [name]Eliza[/name] once that everyone called [name]Eli[/name]- it was so cute!
I voted for [name]Eliza[/name]. It is definitely one of my favourites but husband wouldn’t go for it It has that perfect mix of Classic and familiar with playful and spunky. It can suit a cheeky, playful little girl and a serious, professional adult- perfect!
I also love the name [name]Eleanor[/name]- a beautiful classic.
[name]Lilah[/name] is ok only.
[name]Eleanor[/name]. It is one of my favorite girl names.
This was hard!
I love [name]Lila/name, as well, though I prefer it without the “h”. However, I agree with previous posters about the mass popularity. It is extremely popular where I live, and getting rather overused, though I understand it is still just catching on in other places. Despite this issue, if you love it more than any of the other names, you should use it.
Alternatives: [name]Lilac[/name] or [name]Lilou[/name]
I also adore [name]Eleanor[/name]. From what you have written however, it seems that you don’t care for the nicknames. I love elegant, regal [name]Eleanor[/name] in its entirety, and nicknames [name]Ella[/name], [name]Nell[/name], [name]Leni[/name] and [name]Nora[/name] are sweet as well. However, that is just my opinion, and [name]Eleanor[/name] doesn’t quite sound like the name for you.
[name]Eliza[/name] is my favorite of your choices. It is spunky, fresh and yet vintage, and has many literary ties. In addition, I can’t resist any name of an [name]Audrey[/name] Hepburn character. You wrote that it doesn’t work well with your surname. Perhaps a good middle name would solve that issue, but it depends on the extent of the discord.
Best of luck! You have excellent choices!
Please tell me what your daughter’s name is so that I can choose a good sibset.
