Hello good people of Nameberry! So, through long discussions and many battles, we came to pick the two names that we like for our little girl. But…still can’t seem to decide. Please come to our rescue!
[name_f]Scarlet[/name_f] ([name_f]Carly[/name_f] for short) or [name_f]Matilda[/name_f] ([name_f]Tilly[/name_f] for short)? Also, if [name_f]Scarlet[/name_f] - one “t” or two "t"s?
She will be joining our oldest one, [name_m]Leon[/name_m].
Thank you for taking your time to voice your opinion!
I really like [name_f]Matilda[/name_f]! It’s an adorable name and I think it goes really well with big brother [name_m]Leon[/name_m]. I also adore the nickname [name_f]Tilly[/name_f] [name_f]Matilda[/name_f] would make a cute name for a baby sister!
I prefer [name_f]Matilda[/name_f]. I adore [name_f]Tilly[/name_f]/[name_f]Tillie[/name_f]. My niece is [name_f]Matilda[/name_f] (goes by full name). I think they both go well with [name_m]Leon[/name_m], I am just not personally fond of [name_f]Scarlet[/name_f]. What is the important thing is which one speaks to you more. Which one makes your heart smile? Which one would you regret not being able to use? Which one can you not get out of your mind?
I like both but not [name_f]Carly[/name_f]. It feels too 1970s/80s. Have you considered [name_f]Lettie[/name_f] or [name_u]Scout[/name_u] for [name_f]Scarlett[/name_f]? Would you use the nickname most of the time or full name? For spelling I would go with two Ts for [name_f]Scarlett[/name_f] since that seems to be the norm.
I agree, [name_f]Scarlett[/name_f] if using [name_u]Scout[/name_u] or [name_f]Lettie[/name_f]. If you’re using [name_f]Carly[/name_f], I’d pair it with [name_f]Caroline[/name_f], [name_f]Carla[/name_f] or even [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f].
To me, [name_f]Scarlett[/name_f] and [name_m]Leon[/name_m] are a more moody, intense / artistic pair. [name_f]Matilda[/name_f] makes [name_m]Leon[/name_m] a lighter, cheekier and hip name. Both work, just different vibes!
[name_m]Leon[/name_m] and [name_f]Matilda[/name_f]! I much prefer [name_f]Tilly[/name_f] to [name_f]Carly[/name_f]. If I were to use [name_f]Scarlet[/name_f] I would spell it with one T, because that is how the color is spelt. I would also use the nickname [name_u]Arlie[/name_u]
I’m SO surprised that no one mentioned the popular movie [name_m]Leon[/name_m] by [name_m]Luc[/name_m] Besson! I don’t know if it’s popular in other areas but the main character in the movie was [name_m]Leon[/name_m] and [name_f]Matilda[/name_f] so I’d guess the parents are a big fan of the movie if I see a [name_m]Leon[/name_m] and a [name_f]Matilda[/name_f]. That said, my vote goes to [name_f]Scarlet/name_f
I love both [name_f]Scarlett[/name_f] and [name_f]Matilda[/name_f], but prefer [name_f]Scarlett[/name_f] (this spelling) with [name_m]Leon[/name_m]. However I don’t like [name_f]Carly[/name_f] as a nn for [name_f]Scarlett[/name_f], so would choose [name_f]Matilda[/name_f] in your case. If you went with [name_u]Scout[/name_u] or [name_f]Letty[/name_f] for a nn I would choose [name_f]Scarlett[/name_f].
