My husband and I have finally narrowed our long list down to two names. Our daughter will be named one of the two so please no negative comments. Both include family names from both sides which was very important to us. Our last name is a very common one syllable name. The names are Avaleigh [name_u]Reese[/name_u] [name_f]Audra[/name_f] or [name_f]Ava[/name_f]-[name_u]Reese[/name_u] [name_f]Audriana[/name_f]. Which is your favorite?? Thanks so much!
I think [name_f]Ava[/name_f]-[name_u]Reese[/name_u] [name_f]Audriana[/name_f] has a better flow.
[name_f]Ava[/name_f] [name_u]Reese[/name_u], confused on pronunciation of Avaleigh
[name_f]Ava[/name_f]-[name_u]Reese[/name_u] [name_f]Audriana[/name_f] has my vote. It’s lovely
Also has a little bit of confusion with pronunciation of Avaleigh, would prefer it as [name_f]Ava[/name_f]-[name_u]Leigh[/name_u] - Though I’d still pick [name_f]Ava[/name_f]-[name_u]Reese[/name_u].
Thank you!! I like them both, with [name_f]Ava[/name_f]-[name_u]Reese[/name_u] I worry that the hyphen will cause issues, and with Avaleigh I worry about pronunciation!
[name_f]Ava[/name_f]-[name_u]Reese[/name_u] [name_f]Audriana[/name_f]
[name_f]Ava[/name_f] [name_u]Reese[/name_u] without a doubt
[name_f]Ava[/name_f]-[name_u]Reese[/name_u] gets my vote…it’s much prettier.
You’re welcome
I don’t have a hyphenated name myself, but I have a couple of good friends that do and as far as I’m aware they don’t have any issues with it - One goes by her full hyphenated name almost all the time and one goes mostly by the first name. Personally, I think pronunciation is more important, most people are well versed enough on hyphens.
I don’t love hypenated first names, but if you have such a short last name, I don’t think [name_f]Ava[/name_f]-[name_u]Reese[/name_u] will be a problem, and the flow is undeniably better for [name_f]Ava[/name_f]-[name_u]Reese[/name_u] [name_f]Audriana[/name_f] than for Avaleigh [name_u]Reese[/name_u] [name_f]Audra[/name_f].
I have a hyphenated name myself, I never go by it though. I like [name_f]Ava[/name_f]-[name_u]Reese[/name_u] [name_f]Audriana[/name_f] best. Have you ever thought about [name_f]Cherise[/name_f] to get the ‘[name_u]Reece[/name_u]’ NN?
[name_f]Ava[/name_f]-[name_u]Reese[/name_u] [name_f]Audriana[/name_f]
I like [name_f]Ava[/name_f]-[name_u]Reese[/name_u] [name_f]Audriana[/name_f]. The other option is a little too long for my tastes since it has four names in there. I agree that the hyphen makes pronunciation easier. Avaleigh looks a bit like [name_f]Avalon[/name_f] so you might get the wrong first sound. I can picture a teacher saying [name_f]Ava[/name_f]-[name_u]Reese[/name_u] easily and I like that it’s a different name from [name_f]Ava[/name_f] without being made up.
I just don’t love either. [name_m]Even[/name_m] though you are adding [name_u]Reese[/name_u] or [name_u]Leigh[/name_u] to the end, I think she will blend in with the oodles of [name_f]Ava[/name_f]'s out there. [name_f]Ava[/name_f] is the predominant sound. [name_f]Audra[/name_f] [name_u]Reese[/name_u] would be stunning and a real stand out name. If I had to choose, I would pick Ava Teese since you like Reese.
As someone who has a hyphenated name, I don’t think your little girl will have many issues. I personally use my full name professionally/ formally and the first part as a nn among friends and family. I definitely think you should go for [name_f]Ava[/name_f]-[name_u]Reese[/name_u] [name_f]Audriana[/name_f].
Oh I love to hear from people who have a hyphenated name!! [name_f]Do[/name_f] you have any issues with it as far as in medical offices and things like that?
[name_f]Ava[/name_f]-[name_u]Reese[/name_u] [name_f]Audriana[/name_f]! Anything with [name_f]Ava[/name_f]-[name_u]Reese[/name_u], honestly.
