scarlett is a great name my sister is called scarlett yes she does sometimes get called scar but she likes that she says it makes her seem powerful and strong i don’t think it matters that it can be referred as scarlett fever but she has never had any problems with the name.
you can have the nick name scarlee which is nice. personally i love the name.

I too have thought about Scar but honestly i do know a number (all over the place 
of Scarletts and everyone - parents, the children themelves and friends just love the name. From experience [name_f]Scarlett[/name_f] is not often shortened but I too am a horror at familiarity and using nicknames.
[name_f]Grace[/name_f] -> [name_f]Gracie[/name_f] -I had to stop myself and even [name_f]Sarah[/name_f] is Sar- and I really dislike this so if you have this tendency- maybe you could train yourself to something sweet early.
