Honestly I think it’s kind of cool. My own naming style would be to use [name]Drew[/name] on its own, but Kendrew is totally unexpected and pretty cool, in my opinion. Easily spelled and pronounced, kind of catchy. Be prepared for him to get called [name]Ken[/name] or [name]Kenny[/name] at times, though. Nothing wrong with that, but be sure that you are okay with the possibility before using the name.
It’s slightly odd, and you may get some looks, but I don’t see anything wrong with it. You might just have to explain the Scottish roots. It’s a great alternative, and as pp mentioned – easily spelled (maybe – you never know how some people will spell the most obvious things if it’s not familiar) and definitely easily pronounced. Although I do love the name [name]Andrew[/name].
I’m with you entirely. [name]Love[/name] [name]Drew[/name] not so much [name]Andrew[/name], but don’t giving nicknames on their own. Kendrew is familar sounding, easily spelt, gives you the nickname you love and is [name]IMO[/name] really really cool. (I’m adding it to my list!)
Kendrew could work. It sounds pretty made up (as do plenty of legitimate names) but it’s also familiar in an odd way.
All I’m coming up with as an alternative is something like [name]Daniel[/name] [name]Reuben[/name] nn [name]Drew[/name]. Or [name]David[/name] [name]Rupert[/name]. You could also possibly get away with something like [name]Rudolph[/name] nn [name]Dru[/name] or [name]Rudyard[/name] (are you a Jungle Book fan?).
I can’t do [name]Drew[/name] on it’s on it just doesn’t fit with our other 3 boys, and since it’s twins I really need to find two names that go together. All the boys have longer names that get shortened eg [name]Christopher[/name] nn [name]Chris[/name]. [name]Day[/name] to day they go by their short names but I like them to have a formal name as well. Kendrew would not be used daily except maybe when he’s been naughty lol
