Dromio is one name I totally loved and completely forgot about, but I just saw it in other berry’s thread and boy, am I in love!
It’s a Shakespearean name, and I grew up watching the BBC’s adaptation of The Comedy of Errors, so it brings back a lot of happy memories.
So, what are your thoughts? I know it’s kinda short next to [name_f]Cornelia[/name_f] and [name_m]Endymion[/name_m], but I guess a longer middle name could balance it out.
Funny it’s a Shakespearean name as I thought of [name_m]Romeo[/name_m] immediately. Isn’t Dromio pronounced the same as [name_m]Romeo[/name_m] only with a D in the front?
I’m not sure what I think of it. Definitely not my style personally, but I think it’s cool! I’ve never heard of it before. I also think it works with [name_f]Cornelia[/name_f] and [name_m]Endymion[/name_m]
[name_m]How[/name_m] is it pronounced? I think it has the same sort of feel as [name_f]Cornelia[/name_f] and [name_m]Endymion[/name_m] but it also feels a bit like a slightly off pronunciation of [name_m]Romeo[/name_m] or domino - sorry. Maybe it could grow on me
This was my thought. I don’t really like it but I think it’s usable. It fits well with your other kids names (which I love, especially [name_m]Endymion[/name_m]).
Ugh, didn’t realize it might be difficult to pronounce… Here’s a recorded pronunciation that’s very close to mine. I’m glad you guys think it fits with siblings, though.
I doubt many think of [name_m]Shakespeare[/name_m] when they hear Dromio, as they do with [name_m]Romeo[/name_m]. So I think it sounds like a made-up name.
I agree that many people, not familiar with [name_m]Shakespeare[/name_m]'s less famous works, would think it was a riff on [name_m]Romeo[/name_m], something to be unique.
Also, can I say, it brings me so much pleasure to see someone use [name_f]Hermione[/name_f] in a name! It seems so unwearable because of the strong association with [name_m]Harry[/name_m] [name_m]Potter[/name_m] but there is [name_m]Shakespeare[/name_m] to back it up and knowing you Shakespearian proclivities, it is perfect. I fear being labeled a [name_m]Harry[/name_m] [name_m]Potter[/name_m] uber nerd if I were to use it in a name Not brave enough yet.
