It’s now been 1 year since OH and I started ttc, and I’m due to see my doctor on [name_f]Tuesday[/name_f] to discuss the next step.
I’ve already had day 3 blood tests taken in [name_f]October[/name_f], which they told me (over the phone) were normal and no further action was needed.
I have the most messed up cycles ever, no predicting how long they’ll be, sometimes really heavy periods and sometimes no more than spotting. Sometimes bleeding lasts 4 days, other times 2 weeks.
I was just wondering what to expect at my doctors visit?
Hey-you’re at a very similar stage to me! I hope it doesn’t take you or me much longer xx
I had blood taken every week to see if my hormones were at the right stages at the right time. (I had been on the pill for 4 years)
I also had an ultrasound to check for cysts. They ended up finding something else, so I’m really glad my dr suggested the ultrasound after only 10 months of trying.
My doctor also recommended my husband have a fertility test soon. My dr is absolutely fantastic, yours might not recommend this just yet.
I just keep telling myself that 90% of couples conceive by 2 years, and if that’s the case for me-not long to go now!!
Along with my conception vitamin, I’ve been taking red raspberry leaf vitamins and evening primrose oil which have even made my periods a little more normal (length wise and less painful).
Good luck with your appt, you can pm me if you like xx
Our 1-year mark will be in [name_f]February[/name_f] and our doctor told me that he would start off with some blood work to check my hormones. He’d also ask questions to gather info about my cycles and do whatever he needs to do to rule out things like endometriosis and PCOS. I’m not sure what else…the NP mentioned that they might actually put me on the pill to help regulate my period for awhile. That’s all I was really told sorry I can’t give you a definite scenario.
We only tried for 6 months before I contacted my regular doctor because that’s when she told me to contact her if nothing had happened since I have a history of irregular cycles. She then referred me to an OBGYN. The first thing my OBGYN did was test for PCOS. I would mention that at your appointment if your doctor hasn’t yet. She scheduled a vaginal ultrasound and sure enough I had multiple cysts on my ovaries (while we waited for those results, she recommended trying to lose weight since women with PCOS who lose weight tend to have a higher chance to get pregnant and to also use OPKs to track when I ovulated). So I changed my life style and bought a bunch of OPKs (the cheap wondfo ones my OBGYN recommended).
The next step was for my husband to get tested just to make sure there was nothing wrong on his end (his results were normal) and then she was going to start me on fertility meds (clomid to be exact). Before we were about to start the clomid, I ended up getting pregnant naturally (on our 9th month of trying! basically after 3 months of just using my doctor’s advice we were able to conceive without fertility meds), which was a huge surprise since my last “period” was basically 1 day of spotting in [name_u]March[/name_u] and I didn’t get the positive test till [name_f]April[/name_f]!
Hm like you all had good experiences. I hope mine goes that well. My surgery isn’t great lol. I have a feeling they’ll just tell me to lose weight and come back when I have.

prescribed Clomid because its minimally invasive and since I was mid-cycle she told to not to pick up from pharmacy until I started my period and she would call me if my bloodwork was not normal (it was normal and I did 3 Clomid cycles).
told me to lose weight (in the nicest way a doctor can but still brought out a small inner voice yelling “STFU you don’t know me”)
