but neither [name]William[/name] nor [name]Henry[/name] are family names. I would very much like to honour a relative. What do you think of;
[name]William[/name] [name]Stephen[/name] or
[name]William[/name] [name]James[/name]
which would honour a maternal and paternal great-grandparent, respectively? My husband does not feel that recognizing a relative is necessary, but I quite like the notion of history being passed on to the next generation.
For the record, my husband is very attached to the name [name]James[/name] and would like to “reserve” it for a future son, if we’re blessed with a second.
For added context, we’re uncertain of the gender of our baby, and have decided on [name]Charlotte[/name] [name]Elizabeth[/name] if we have a daughter, which we absolutely adore. In my husband’s words, “[name]Charlotte[/name] is such a cool name.”
[name]Hi[/name], [name]Erika[/name]! I love your names so much! I think that [name]Charlotte[/name] [name]Elizabeth[/name] McNabb is gorgeous, and I loved [name]William[/name] [name]Henry[/name], too!
I think it’s great that you’d like to use a family name, and between [name]William[/name] [name]Stephen[/name] and [name]William[/name] [name]James[/name], I’ll vote for [name]William[/name] [name]James[/name]. [name]Even[/name] though it has a lot of M, I still love it. [name]Both[/name] [name]William[/name] and [name]James[/name] sound so handsome to me.
You mentioned that your husband wants to use [name]James[/name] as a first name, so you may also like [name]James[/name] [name]William[/name] or [name]James[/name] [name]Henry[/name]/[name]Henry[/name] [name]James[/name] for this baby. (Unless you’ve already decided on [name]William[/name] as the first name.)
Honestly, I don’t think you can go wrong with any of your names!
[name]William[/name] [name]Henry[/name] is a great name! (as is [name]Charlotte[/name] [name]Elizabeth[/name])
As [name]Jill[/name] mentioned, I also wondered if maybe your desire to honor someone plus your love of the names [name]James[/name] (which I love too) might indicate that a better choice for you would be to change your first name choice for a boy to [name]James[/name] rather than change the middle?
[name]James[/name] [name]Henry[/name] McNabb is awesome!
(I think this might be the name for you especially since you mentioned your husband being attached to the name [name]James[/name] and really wanting to give it to a son; if this child turns out to be a boy, you may as well use the name now - you might only have girls hereafter).
Thank you so much for your reassuring comments! I suppose I was just having a few last-minute jitters. We’ll be going with our first choice of name, [name]William[/name] [name]Henry[/name]. If only this baby would shake a leg already!
[name]William[/name] [name]Henry[/name] and his brother [name]James[/name] [name]Rupert[/name]
[name]William[/name] [name]Andrew[/name] and his brother [name]James[/name] [name]Lachlan[/name]
[name]William[/name] [name]Atticus[/name] and his brother [name]James[/name] [name]Harold[/name]
[name]William[/name] [name]Grant[/name] and [name]James[/name] [name]Alexander[/name]
