Due Any Day & Still No Name! HELP!!

Picking a boy’s name to go with soon-to-be big sister Talulah is the hardest thing we’ve ever done. We can’t completely commit to anything.

We love unique, nickname-able names - we call Talulah, [name_f]Lulu[/name_f] or [name_f]Lu[/name_f]. Our last name is one of the most common last names and it ends in 'ER.

Here’s the names that have continued to stay on our list…

[name_m]Talmadge[/name_m] - It’s a family name, but we feel it’s too matchy, matchy with Talulah. And if we decide to have more kids in the future, it would leave us stuck with only T names.

[name_m]Wilbur[/name_m] - Again, a family name, my grandfather’s to be exact. We love the name [name_m]Wilbur[/name_m], just not the possible nickname of [name_m]Will[/name_m]. Although, my Pop Pop never got [name_m]Will[/name_m], he did get Wib, which I don’t mind at all. We could use the nickname Wilby/Wilbee to possibly stop anyone from using “[name_m]Will[/name_m]”. Also, Dad is a [name_m]William[/name_m], however, he goes by [name_m]Bill[/name_m]. So, is [name_m]Wilbur[/name_m] too [name_m]William[/name_m]-y?

[name_m]Sylvester[/name_m] - Is it too cartoon-ish? And what would be a nickname? We do like how everyone knows the name, but not anyone named it. It’s a strong name too.

[name_m]Harrington[/name_m] - My dad passed away a few years ago, so we gave his middle name, Tawes, to our daughter Talulah. Talulah was one of my dad’s favorite names, (he loved [name_m]Bruce[/name_m] [name_m]Willis[/name_m]). My dad’s name was [name_m]Harry[/name_m], which is too common for us. [name_m]Harris[/name_m] and [name_m]Harrison[/name_m] are also way too common for us as well. [name_m]Harrington[/name_m] has that [name_m]Harry[/name_m] sound and [name_m]Harry[/name_m] nickname, but I don’t think it goes well with Talulah. And I don’t know if I love the name.

One last thing… We like the sounds of [name_m]Theodore[/name_m], [name_m]Winston[/name_m], [name_m]Oscar[/name_m], etc. - the cute, yet strong names - but want a name that is perfably not in the top 1000.

Any suggestions?! Please help!!

I really love the sound of [name_m]Oscar[/name_m] and Talulah and don’t think oscar is too popular! My other favorite of your choices is [name_m]Sylvester[/name_m]! I would call him syl (sounds like sill) and I would actually call him “Silly” as a baby nickname

[name_m]How[/name_m] about:
[name_u]Navy[/name_u]
[name_m]Otto[/name_m]
[name_m]Otis[/name_m]
[name_m]Alvin[/name_m]
[name_m]Harvey[/name_m]
[name_m]Baxter[/name_m]
[name_m]Beckett[/name_m]
[name_m]Calvin[/name_m]
[name_u]Calder[/name_u]
[name_m]Desmond[/name_m]
[name_m]Elden[/name_m]
[name_m]Gilbert[/name_m]
[name_m]Graham[/name_m]
[name_m]Julius[/name_m]
[name_m]Malcolm[/name_m]
[name_m]Magnus[/name_m]
[name_m]Matthias[/name_m]
[name_m]Morris[/name_m]
[name_m]Hugo[/name_m]
[name_u]Stanley[/name_u]
[name_m]Laszlo[/name_m]
[name_m]Clyde[/name_m]
[name_m]Crosby[/name_m]
[name_m]Penn[/name_m]

Honestly, I love all of your top contenders!

[name_m]Talmadge[/name_m] - amazing and very matchy, matchy with Talulah. I wouldn’t pass on the opportunity to use it, so I’d put it in the middle.

[name_m]Wilbur[/name_m] - not too [name_m]William[/name_m]-y and gets to honor dad and grandpa at the same time! This name is a tiny bit cutesy for my taste, but goes well with sister’s sweet name. [name_m]Wills[/name_m], Wilby, [name_m]Burr[/name_m] or Burs could work as nns.

[name_m]Sylvester[/name_m] - I know two guys named [name_m]Sylvester[/name_m] and with the rise of [name_f]Sylvia[/name_f], I think it will feel familiar without getting trendy. [name_m]Vester[/name_m] and Syl, or even [name_u]Sterling[/name_u] work as nns.

[name_m]Harrington[/name_m] - I know a young Kharrington, so this seems familiar to me. This seems to be your least favorite, you already gave your daughter [name_m]Harry[/name_m]'s middle name, and the best nn is too common. Maybe [name_u]Tony[/name_u] could be the nn, or [name_m]Ringo[/name_m]

I like [name_m]Winston[/name_m] best from your extras list.

[name_m]Wilbur[/name_m] [name_m]Talmadge[/name_m] or [name_m]Sylvester[/name_m] [name_m]Talmadge[/name_m]!

Naming #2 is so hard! But you have a beautifully named daughter and some great options for her little brother!

[name_m]Talmadge[/name_m] - I see what you mean about being a little too matchy with Talulah. It would be a great middle, though!

[name_m]Wilbur[/name_m] - I like it, and I don’t think “[name_m]Will[/name_m]” is inevitable. There are plenty of other cute nicknames and it is short enough I don’t think it has to have one.

[name_m]Sylvester[/name_m] - I do think of the cartoon but it is a great name and I think if I met a little boy named this it would change my initial reaction. I knew of a guy named [name_m]Sylvester[/name_m] and he went by [name_m]Sly[/name_m]. I always thought that was a cool nickname.

[name_m]Harrington[/name_m] - I like [name_m]Harrington[/name_m] ok, but it definitely seems like one that will get a nickname. So if you go with this I’d pre-determine what that nickname would be, otherwise I think you’ll get [name_m]Harry[/name_m] by default.

Good luck!

I really like [name_m]Sylvester[/name_m]

[name_m]Harrington[/name_m] is my favourite, second is [name_m]Sylvester[/name_m] (with a nn, preferably, though… Sylv, [name_m]Sly[/name_m], Sylvo, etc.), third is actually [name_m]Wilbur[/name_m]. Personally, I think [name_m]Talmadge[/name_m] is quite close to [name_f]Tallulah[/name_f] and might be better as a mn, but that’s just my opinion.

Trying to think of some suggestions outside the top 1000 (which is tough):
[name_m]Radley[/name_m]
[name_m]Rigby[/name_m]
[name_u]Sidney[/name_u]
[name_m]Thane[/name_m]/[name_m]Thain[/name_m]/[name_m]Thayne[/name_m]
Thorley
[name_m]Teague[/name_m]
[name_m]Teman[/name_m]
[name_m]Thornton[/name_m]
Ahearn
Allric
[name_m]Oran[/name_m]
[name_m]Shelton[/name_m]
[name_m]Nevin[/name_m]
[name_m]Phineas[/name_m]
[name_m]Clement[/name_m]

It’s pretty difficult to find names outside the top 1000 but not impossible… take your time and settle on one that you love!

Never thought about [name_m]Talmadge[/name_m] for a middle name! I kind of like that.

[name_m]Sylvester[/name_m] nickname sly
[name_m]Wilbur[/name_m] nickname [name_m]Burley[/name_m]
[name_m]Hadrian[/name_m] nickname [name_u]Rian[/name_u] or [name_m]Harry[/name_m]
[name_m]Earnest[/name_m] nickname Earnie

I really love the sound of Talulah and [name_m]Wilbur[/name_m] together! So cute!

[name_m]Sylvester[/name_m] nn [name_m]Sly[/name_m] is my favorite. [name_m]Wilbur[/name_m] is also lovely. Is [name_u]Bernie[/name_u] or [name_m]Burnie[/name_m] to big of a stretch for a nickname? Also, what about another variation on [name_m]Harry[/name_m], such as [name_m]Harvey[/name_m]? I think it is quite lovely. However, if that is too common for you, I also think [name_u]Hartley[/name_u] is a great name and is very uncommon.

I actually kind of love a [name_m]Sylvester[/name_m].

[name_m]Ambrose[/name_m]
[name_m]Ogden[/name_m]
[name_m]Halston[/name_m]
[name_u]Lorne[/name_u]
[name_m]Torsten[/name_m]

All good names. I especially like [name_m]Wilbur[/name_m] with Talulah. NN suggestion of Wilby is great! I also like [name_m]Harrington[/name_m]. [name_m]Harry[/name_m] nn is the obvious - and lovely - however [name_m]Ringo[/name_m] is cool!

Burt, Bud or Buddy for Wilbur nns?

[name_m]Wilbur[/name_m] is a lovely name, but I’d personally find it too close to [name_m]William[/name_m]. However, that could be a bonus if you want to incorporate an indirect honour name. Talulah and [name_m]Wilbur[/name_m] do sound very sweet together and [name_m]Wilbur[/name_m] works really well with [name_m]Talmadge[/name_m] in the middle (I agree that [name_m]Talmadge[/name_m] would make a wonderful middle name, especially with big sister’s lovely honouring T- surname middle name - it would be a nice subtle link between the two).

[name_m]Sylvester[/name_m] is a cool name but I do find it a little cartoonish (sorry!), especially if your surname also ends -er and with big sister Talulah. [name_m]How[/name_m] about [name_m]Sylvan[/name_m]/[name_m]Silvan[/name_m] instead? Very handsome, bold but a bit more understated, and very unusual.

[name_m]Talmadge[/name_m] is my favorite, and most meaningful, with [name_f]Talullah[/name_f].
