Due in 3 weeks with our third. We aren’t sure what gender this baby is.
Think we have the boys name sorted and now just having second thoughts on a girls name.
Older brothers are [name_m]Lachlan[/name_m] and [name_m]Hugo[/name_m]. We were thinking of [name_f]Isla[/name_f] but are now considering [name_f]Freya[/name_f]. Both of which we have liked for awhile.
Which works better?
[name_m]Lachlan[/name_m], [name_m]Hugo[/name_m] and [name_f]Isla[/name_f]
[name_m]Lachlan[/name_m], [name_m]Hugo[/name_m] and [name_f]Freya[/name_f]
Both work and they’re both lovely, windswept names but I’m leaning towards Freya which I think has a little more staying power as an adult. Also, Freya means everyone gets their own strong sounds - “Chlan”, “Go” and “Frey” - whereas Isla doesn’t quite hold up to the boys’ names. Freya creates a forthright, fun, and adventurous trio. Isla makes them (for me) more vintage sweet, genteel, and introverted. Hope that helps and good luck!
Personally I think [name_f]Freya[/name_f] is the better fit as she has the sparkly flair off Lachl@n and Hug0.
[name_f]Freya[/name_f] is gorgeous! She’s sparkly, feminine and has a lovely strong meaning. She has a great Norse mythological history with her being the [name_f]Goddess[/name_f] of love, beauty and fertility. I think [name_f]Freya[/name_f] sounds beautiful with your boys outdoorsy, spirited and wind swept. [name_f]Lovely[/name_f] name!
Wishing you all the best with your new addition. Good luck!
I love Isla!! When saying [name_m]Lachlan[/name_m], [name_m]Hugo[/name_m] and [name_f]Freya[/name_f] very fast for some reason I find [name_m]Hugo[/name_m] and [name_f]Freya[/name_f] tongue-twistery I kept wanting to say Fugo when saying them both together. But maybe just me as they dont sound similar.
I like [name_f]Isla[/name_f] has a distinct sound and I think it starting with a vowel instead really helps to split up the names and sounds!
Both are lovely and similar level of popularity where I am, but in this case I’m going [name_f]Freya[/name_f] for that strong fricative sound holding its own against the boys names and the goddess association. I also think it balances better in terms of length, bridging the two. But you can’t go wrong.
[name_f]Freya[/name_f] is strong but gentle, popular but distinctive. [name_f]Isla[/name_f] is bright, breezy, sharp and clear. [name_f]Freya[/name_f] feels more international and rugged; outdoorsy but warm and feminine. [name_f]Isla[/name_f] has that Scottish vibe of [name_m]Lachlan[/name_m] and that short and stylish feel of [name_m]Hugo[/name_m]. Both work so well, which makes this harder!
I think ultimately, I think [name_f]Freya[/name_f] holds its own a little more with [name_m]Lachlan[/name_m] and [name_m]Hugo[/name_m], so my vote is going to that
I prefer [name_f]Freya[/name_f]! So stark and pretty.
I work in a daycare and have met several little girls named [name_f]Isla[/name_f], between 18mo and 6 years. And some older ones out in the world. I’ve never met a [name_f]Freya[/name_f] and would love to. That’s just such a powerful name!
I like [name_f]Freya[/name_f] best! funnily enough I know siblings [name_f]Freya[/name_f], [name_f]Isla[/name_f], and [name_m]Lachlan[/name_m] so I really think you’re good to go with either
