I am due next month with my first baby, a boy and my husband and I cannot decide on a name. We finally narrowed it down to about 5 names but I just can’t commit to one and would greatly appreciate your opinions. One problem is his last name is one syllable and I tend to like one syllable names. Last name rhymes with the number ten.
[name_u]Kieran[/name_u] [name_m]John[/name_m] (or [name_m]Ciaran[/name_m]?) ([name_m]John[/name_m] is my father mn)
[name_m]Cole[/name_m] [name_m]Thomas[/name_m] ([name_m]Thomas[/name_m] is my brothers name)
[name_m]Jack[/name_m]
[name_m]Leo[/name_m]
[name_m]Oliver[/name_m]
[name_u]Kieran[/name_u]/[name_m]Ciaran[/name_m] is beautiful and would be my choice. Does any of the names draw you more than others? I’m wondering what’s behind the inability to commit to one…
I’m an indecisive person in general, but I think it’s because I’ve been obsessed with names forever and now that it’s an actual child I have to name, I don’t want to have any regrets.
Also, i am mostly Irish (american) & my husband is hispanic so its hard to find something that could work.
I’m more drawn to [name_u]Kieran[/name_u] & [name_m]Cole[/name_m] And he lives [name_m]Oliver[/name_m] & [name_m]Leo[/name_m] more but we both like all 5 names.
I admit that [name_u]Kieran[/name_u] ([name_m]Ciaran[/name_m]) and [name_m]Cole[/name_m] also are favorites of mine, although [name_m]Leo[/name_m] is right up there. You can’t go wrong with any of these names. Personally, I wouldn’t worry about the 1 syllable first and last. Those names can be very punchy and memorable. [name_m]Brad[/name_m] [name_m]Pitt[/name_m], for example, is a great combo. I suggest that you sit with the names for awhile and don’t force a decision. By the time your baby is here, something fabulous will emerge.
I have a soft spot for [name_u]Kieran[/name_u]! I think its so handsome and sweet. Perhaps [name_u]Kieran[/name_u] [name_m]Oliver[/name_m]? That way you both get your favorites used!
I also really like [name_m]Jack[/name_m] and [name_m]Cole[/name_m]. I agree that one syllable first & last names can definitely work!
I like the idea of using your dad’s name in the middle, which to me narrows the list down to just [name_u]Kieran[/name_u] and [name_m]Oliver[/name_m]. Looking at the name as a whole, and considering the sound of the last name, I lean strongly in favor of [name_m]Oliver[/name_m] [name_m]John[/name_m].
