Due soon - help me pick the best of two

So, I’m due in less than 7 weeks and we’ve got it narrowed down to two names:

[name]Tessa[/name] [name]Claire[/name]
[name]Tessa[/name] [name]Juliane[/name]

Which do you prefer? Any reason why? I can’t decide how much weight to give to ‘family’ names. [name]Juliane[/name] is a variant of my own name, [name]Julie[/name]. Not sure if I feel the need to go there though, and wondering if it feels a bit formal sounding. I do wonder if I would regret not giving her a real family name though. I like the flow and feel of [name]Tessa[/name] [name]Claire[/name] (even though it is only a single syllable). [name]Claire[/name] doesn’t have as much significance, although it does mean ‘bright’ and she was conceived the week of summer solstice up here in the land of midnight sun. All that aside, what strikes you as the more complete or prefered name?

Thanks!

[name]Hi[/name], I love [name]Tessa[/name] [name]Claire[/name]…I love the flow much more than [name]Tessa[/name] [name]Julianne[/name].

I don’t think you necessarily have to go with a family name, because you can always use a family name if you have more children.
My first-born, a boy, was not named after anyone in my family. Instead, we chose a name to honor our Irish heritage. My daughter, on the other hand, was given a family name as her middle name.

That being said, I love [name]Tessa[/name] [name]Claire[/name]!

Ooo I love both [name]Tessa[/name] [name]Claire[/name] and [name]Tessa[/name] [name]Julianne[/name]. I think both flow well as both middles have a different number of syllables to [name]Tessa[/name].

[name]How[/name] many syllables is your last name and what does it start/end with? That might make my mind up as maybe one combo would flow better with the last name than the other!

And as for whether you’ll regret not using some kind of family name…I’ve had this debate with myself in the past and I think, while everyone is different, that ultimately having personal meaning in a name is more important to me than anything. So if one name has more meaning to you then maybe that’s the one to go for?

[name]Love[/name] [name]Tessa[/name] by the way!

Good luck

Thanks. Our last name starts with [name]Mac[/name] (sounds very much like MacInnes). It seems to go well with lots of names - never had a problem with the last name.

It’s a tough decision. I do [name]LOVE[/name] the feel of [name]Tessa[/name] [name]Claire[/name] and I might have to choose this as it feels like perfection. But does anyone feel like [name]Claire[/name] is a filler MN? Much the same that [name]Anne[/name] or [name]Lynn[/name] might be? This will be my last opportunity to pass down my own name and I’m not sure how significant that is to me. Perhaps I’ll have to wait until I meet her? Other variants I’ve considered are [name]Juliet[/name] and [name]Juliana[/name]. I think these sound equal in nature to [name]Juliane[/name] - one not sounding particularly better than the other. I see you both spelt [name]Juliane[/name] with two 'n’s. That seems more natural I guess. I always prefer to streamline names by their letter count, but maybe [name]Julianne[/name] is the better spelling.

I love the name [name]Claire[/name] <3 It’s my DDs middle name, Tessa Claire is a beautiful combo so this would be my choice.

Tessa Julianne is a great name also.

Ooo [name]Tessa[/name] [name]Juliet[/name] might be my favourite of all!

While I love the flow of [name]Tessa[/name] [name]Claire[/name] as a whole, I do kind of find [name]Claire[/name] a bit of a filler name when used in the middle and it doesn’t wow me.

Now that you’ve thrown [name]Tessa[/name] [name]Juliet[/name] in the mix I’d definitely choose that over [name]Tessa[/name] [name]Claire[/name] as I think it’s really beautiful and has significance for you  I think if there’s a chance you might regret not passing your own name down that maybe it’s better safe than sorry and you should just use it.

Good luck with your decision!

I like [name]Tessa[/name] [name]Juliet[/name] the best.

[name]Tessa[/name] [name]Claire[/name] MacInnes
[name]Tessa[/name] [name]Julianne[/name] MacInnes
[name]Tessa[/name] [name]Juliet[/name] MacInnes

After spelling them out, I really like [name]Tessa[/name] [name]Claire[/name], then [name]Tessa[/name] [name]Juliet[/name]!

I like [name]Tessa[/name] [name]Claire[/name] best.

[name]Tessa[/name] [name]Claire[/name] gets my vote, so beautiful! : )
Best of luck : )

I really like [name]Tessa[/name] [name]Juliet[/name]. [name]Julianne[/name] is pretty too but [name]Juliet[/name] feels more modern (like [name]Tessa[/name] does). [name]Juliane[/name] with one N is a tad confusing to me, [name]Juliane[/name] is the [name]German[/name] version and it is pronounced differently than [name]Julianne[/name] is.

I like both although I would spell it [name]Julianne[/name]. I think I prefer [name]Tessa[/name] [name]Julianne[/name] but both are nice. I love [name]Tessa[/name] [name]Juliet[/name] as another spin on your name. Good luck!

I think [name]Julianne[/name] is one of the prettiest and most underused names that I have ever heard of. It is like [name]Lauren[/name], [name]Laura[/name], [name]Lorelai[/name] and [name]Laurel[/name] family but in this case it is the [name]Julia[/name], [name]Julie[/name], [name]Julianne[/name], [name]Juliet[/name] and [name]Juliana[/name] family. It’s lovely I would love you to choose it.

I have no love for [name]Claire[/name] as it has always seemed like such a plain, filler kind of name, however, if I was to use the name I would definitely spell it as [name]Claire[/name].

[name]Tessa[/name] is a great choice she is such a fun, spunky, sporty and vivacious girl.

rollo

Hmmm…interesting. The responses seem to be pretty divided. I really don’t know how I am going to choose. I like them for different reasons. I like the image and feel of [name]Tessa[/name] [name]Claire[/name] - I get a wholesome, wild rose and soft fields kind of feeling from it. I agree that [name]Julianne[/name] is an underused classic. I do feel it sits a bit more fussy in the middle spot though and I’m not sure I care for the letter count either. It has significance for me of course, and I guess I’m trying to determine how much that matters to me. I like [name]Tessa[/name] [name]Juliet[/name] too, but I wonder if it is too chic or modern sounding, whether it is grounded enough or whether I might tire of it? I tend to over-analyze these things perhaps, but I suppose we all do on this board, right?!

[name]Julie[/name]

[name]Tessa[/name] [name]Claire[/name] certainly appeals; however, I really want to advocate for [name]Tessa[/name] [name]Julianne[/name]. I think family names are important, and it’s a special thing to pass them on. I say this as the only one of three siblings who wasn’t given a family name as part of my name. This is something that always made me feel a bit left out as a child, and it’s also something that my parents (now that I’m an adult) admit they wish they’d done differently.

I am sure you wouldn’t tire of [name]Tessa[/name] [name]Juliet[/name] but just in case you do go for the lovely [name]Tessa[/name] [name]Julianne[/name].

[name]Tessa[/name] [name]Juliet[/name] is lovely!! While [name]Juliet[/name] sounds current and in style, it certainly doesn’t scream new and modern to me… [name]Shakespeare[/name], anyone? I think it’s very grounded in history and literature.

But if you’re not sure you love it, then you’ve got [name]Julianne[/name], which has the same family significance and is also very pretty. It is a bit fussier, though. I really wasn’t sure how to pronounce ‘[name]Juliane[/name]’ when I saw it, so I’d stick to the [name]Julianne[/name] spelling.

[name]Tessa[/name] [name]Claire[/name] sounds great, but I wouldn’t choose it over a name with personal significance to you.

[name]Tessa[/name] [name]Claire[/name]
