Looking for some ideas for a friend. Dad is Dutch and mom is Filipino. They were told they had 5% chance of conceiving ONLY if using IVF 4yrs ago. They decided not to risk heartbreak and debt and resolved to a childless lifestyle, which involved twice yearly trips to [name_m]Hawaii[/name_m]. Surprise! They are 19wks pregnant. [name_u]Truly[/name_u] a little miracle.
She likes [name_f]Savannah[/name_f] and [name_u]Mason[/name_u], but he wants more traditional, but both are hoping to incorporate [name_m]Hawaii[/name_m] somehow…
Last name is 3-syllables and starts with Merry___.
Great story! If he is Dutch and he wants something traditional that probably means either Dutch or a neutral Biblical name, since Biblical names work like a charm internationally and are traditional per se, well the more mainstream ones that is.
Considering that then it’s maybe a good idea to move the Hawaiian touch to the middle name spot, so these are some suggestions:
Kamea & [name_f]Noelani[/name_f]
Those are my Hawaiian picks
[name_u]Mason[/name_u] & [name_f]Savannah[/name_f] are nice, I hear them both here and there, perhaps a hewrew name would make them happy .
I quite like [name_f]Naomi[/name_f] for a girl (Nay-oh-mee) & I think it sounds Hawaiian as well though it isn’t.
For a boy … Perhaps something conventional like [name_u]James[/name_u] or [name_m]Jacob[/name_m]?
I will think about it a bit if anything comes to me I will post again.
Thanks all! Very helpful… I love reading your Hawaiin faves. Plus what’s mainstream in the Netherlands. His name is after a god and hers is very ‘old-lady’ (one not even set to make a comeback yet) so I think they want something that will fit in at the playground but not make 5 kids come running [name_u]Kai[/name_u] and [name_f]Hana[/name_f] fit well.
