Ea?

Does anyone know about this name? Pronunciation? Meaning?

I saw a post on my FB from an older lady I know who is travelling to Denmark to see her grandkids. She mentioned one is a girl named Ea. I’ve never seen that name before and was so curious that I tried to look it up. Unfortunately, google mainly showed me results for EA games…

Can anyone shine a light on this? Thank you!!

According to Behind the Name, it’s a [name_m]Danish[/name_m] and Norwegian short form of names ending in -ea! I would instinctively pronounce it ay-uh.

What an interesting name! I’d instinctively pronounce it EE-uh, myself.
Sisters Ea and [name_f]Io[/name_f], anyone?

I would say ee-ah. It’s pretty! I would only use it as a nickname.

Ee-uh would be how I pronounced it. I love this name! Most of the kids in my family call me that, but it was just because the oldest couldn’t say my name. It involved from just E to Ea, but I never knew it was a real name! Thanks for sharing!!
