Hello, friends! [name_f][/name_f] I hope you’re all doing well as we get through these last few weeks of winter. I’ve been feeling very tied to nature while anticipating this coming spring, so the earthy names have [name_f][/name_f]- of course [name_f][/name_f]- been on my mind!
[name_f][/name_f]
I’ve always been drawn to miss [name_f]Gaia[/name_f] [name_f][/name_f]- despite not liking her sound all that much [name_f][/name_f]- due to her ties to the [name_f]Earth[/name_f]. She’s more than a nature name like [name_f]Fern[/name_f] or [name_m]Basil[/name_m], and has a tie to the world that makes her feel different from other names to me, in a way that I’m unable to explain. Of course, Gaia’s connection to the [name_f]Earth[/name_f] that makes her special is[name_f][/name_f] [name_f]Gaia[/name_f] [name_f][/name_f]- the personification of the [name_f]Earth[/name_f] and, essentially, the mother of life. There’s something so divine about this tie that I adore.
[name_f][/name_f]
So, I’m looking for a little inspiration for names that are “earthy like Gaia!” They don’t have to be mythological, but something that has that vibe, if it makes sense. [name_f]My[/name_f] most beloved names are all on my Listography, but it might not even be necessary to try to fit these earthy names into my style. I’ll look at all and any you can think of.
[name_f][/name_f]
I’d love to hear all your “earthy like Gaia” ideas for a little babe.
[name_f]Gaia[/name_f] is a very special name! It’s colorful, scented, poetic and lively. [name_f][/name_f][name_f]Meadow[/name_f] and [name_f]Prairie[/name_f] evoke the same imaginary and fresh energy.
Trying, failing, playing around – taking this a bit literally on the “earthy” since [name_f]Gaia[/name_f] is earth personified

[name_f]Akka[/name_f] [name_f][/name_f]Cel [name_f][/name_f][name_f]Ceres[/name_f] [name_f][/name_f][name_f]Cielle[/name_f] / [name_f]Ciel[/name_f] [name_f][/name_f]Claremont [name_f][/name_f][name_f]Cybele[/name_f] [name_f][/name_f][name_f]Demeter[/name_f] [name_f][/name_f][name_f]Eartha[/name_f] [name_f][/name_f][name_f]Evani[/name_f] [name_f][/name_f][name_f]Eve[/name_f] [name_f][/name_f][name_m]Everest[/name_m] [name_f][/name_f][name_m]Fenn[/name_m] [name_f][/name_f][name_f]Fenna[/name_f] [name_f][/name_f][name_m]Geo[/name_m] [name_f][/name_f][name_m]George[/name_m] / [name_f]Georgia[/name_f] / [name_f]Georgina[/name_f] / [name_f]Georgiana[/name_f] [name_f][/name_f][name_f]Hermione[/name_f] [name_f][/name_f][name_m]Mies[/name_m] [name_f][/name_f][name_f]Nuna[/name_f] [name_f][/name_f][name_f]Petra[/name_f] [name_f][/name_f][name_m]Petrichor[/name_m] [name_f][/name_f][name_m]Piers[/name_m] [name_f][/name_f][name_f]Rhea[/name_f] (debated meanings include “ground, earth,” “from the stream,” or “pomegranate”) [name_f][/name_f][name_f]Sena[/name_f] (meanings include “this world’s beauty or grace” and “bringing heaven to earth”) [name_f][/name_f][name_f]Sora[/name_f] [name_f][/name_f][name_f]Terra[/name_f] [name_f][/name_f][name_f]Therese[/name_f] / [name_f]Tess[/name_f] [name_f][/name_f]Žemyna [name_f][/name_f][name_f]Zola[/name_f]
[name_f][/name_f]
Debatably, [name_f]Persephone[/name_f] & [name_f]Proserpina[/name_f]. There are many meanings of [name_f]Persephone[/name_f], ranging in theme, including Cicero’s who called her the seeds of the fruit in the fields. [name_f]Proserpina[/name_f] is a Latinization of [name_f]Persephone[/name_f] via the Latin proserpere “to emerge” which is a reference to the growing of grain.
[name_f][/name_f]
I used to be obsessed with meanings. I like the idea of combining names in a combo to form a meaning – I do this a lot less now lol. Here are a few that I have saved (from my Top 20 of 2020 which exists in the Nameberry ether): [name_f][/name_f][name_f]Edith[/name_f] [name_f]Fiorella[/name_f] “little flower that survived the war; blessed flower” [name_f][/name_f][name_f]Elspeth[/name_f] [name_f]Gaia[/name_f] “pledged to the earth” [name_f][/name_f][name_f]Georgiana[/name_f] [name_f]Hero[/name_f] “savior of the environment; goddess of farms” [name_f][/name_f][name_m]Ivo[/name_m] [name_m]Dimitri[/name_m] “the harvest’s longevity and regeneration” [name_f][/name_f][name_f]Wilhelmina[/name_f] [name_f]Iris[/name_f] “protected by rainbows”
I absolutely love the way you describe [name_f]Gaia[/name_f] [name_f][/name_f]- there’s something undeniably powerful about her deep, intrinsic connection to the [name_f]Earth[/name_f].
