I’m not American, I’m from the UK, so take my opinion with a pinch of salt.

I pronounce Madalina the way you want the name to be pronounced, but for [name_f]Madalena[/name_f] I alternate between your way and mad-uh-lay-nah, basically like “Mad Elena/Alayna”.

I think Madalina would get you exactly the pronunciation you want. I find myself wanting to pronounce [name_f]Madalena[/name_f] as “Mad-uh-LAY-nuh”.

I’m a Latina in the [name_u]Southern[/name_u] US

On instinct, I say:

Madalina: Mad-ah-LEE-nah
[name_f]Madalena[/name_f]: Mad-ah-LENN-ah

I think the Madalina spelling will most likely get the sound you want!
