Eccentric Aristocrat

My top 12 for each sex.

[name_m]General[/name_m] feedback, name imagery, pairing ideas and alternate suggestions appreciated :).

{g} [name_f]Abyssinia[/name_f], [name_f]Antoinette[/name_f], [name_f]Emeraude[/name_f], [name_f]Forsythia[/name_f], [name_f]Garnet[/name_f], [name_f]Guinevere[/name_f], [name_f]Lavinia[/name_f], [name_f]Parthenia[/name_f], [name_f]Rosamund[/name_f], [name_f]Temperance[/name_f], [name_f]Thomasina[/name_f], [name_f]Winifred[/name_f]

{b} [name_m]Algernon[/name_m], [name_m]Alasdair[/name_m], Devereux, [name_m]Everard[/name_m], [name_m]Ignatius[/name_m], [name_m]Leopold[/name_m], [name_m]Piers[/name_m], [name_u]Sinclair[/name_u], [name_m]Talbot[/name_m], [name_m]Wellington[/name_m], [name_m]Winston[/name_m], [name_m]York[/name_m]

I love Guinevere, Rosamund, Temperance and Thomasina for girls and Ignatius and Leopold for boys!

Most of these feel a bit OTT for me but you did say you were going for “eccentric aristocrat”, which these definitely are!

[name_f]Antoinette[/name_f], [name_f]Forsythia[/name_f], [name_f]Garnet[/name_f], [name_f]Lavinia[/name_f], [name_f]Rosamund[/name_f], [name_f]Winifred[/name_f] (just because I love [name_f]Winnie[/name_f]. Haha!)

[name_m]Alasdair[/name_m], Devereux, [name_m]Everard[/name_m] (My great great grandfather’s name, love it!) [name_m]Leopold[/name_m], [name_m]Piers[/name_m], [name_u]Sinclair[/name_u], [name_m]Talbot[/name_m], [name_m]York[/name_m]

This sort of thing is very much up my alley. I like the ridiculously long last names that people give their children. Yes, of course they can sound pretentious but I find them super cool.

Favorites bolded.

[name_f]Abyssinia[/name_f] - Sounds Biblical to me. I don’t dislike it, but it doesn’t light up, either. Other people might take issue with the “Abyss” part. Random middles: [name_f]Abyssinia[/name_f] [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f], [name_f]Abyssinia[/name_f] [name_f]Vera[/name_f]
[name_f]Antoinette[/name_f] - Pretty, but I’d want to pair it up with something less dainty in order to ground it. [name_f]Antoinette[/name_f] [name_f]Zoe[/name_f] or [name_f]Antoinette[/name_f] [name_f]Liv[/name_f], maybe.
[name_f]Emeraude[/name_f] - I love the look of this one, but I’ve never quite been able to like the sound. There’s something inaccessible about it—it feels like an old queen who dies far from home, or something. Random middles: [name_f]Emeraude[/name_f] [name_f]Giselle[/name_f], [name_f]Emeraude[/name_f] [name_f]Kira[/name_f]
[name_f]Forsythia[/name_f] - [name_u]Love[/name_u] the imagery here—who doesn’t love a bright yellow flower that blooms before all the others and adds color to the winter landscape? It’s definitely a mouthful, but [name_f]Forsythia[/name_f] nn [name_f]Thea[/name_f] would be cute. Random middles: [name_f]Forsythia[/name_f] [name_f]Jane[/name_f], [name_f]Forsythia[/name_f] [name_f]Cosette[/name_f]
[name_f]Garnet[/name_f] - Very NMS—I can’t get past the sound, which just feels frumpy to me. I’d pair it with an extra frilly middle to compensate. Maybe [name_f]Garnet[/name_f] [name_f]Amelia[/name_f] or [name_f]Garnet[/name_f] [name_f]Camilla[/name_f]?
[name_f]Guinevere[/name_f] - [name_u]Love[/name_u] it. I used to wish so hard that this was my name! It sounds ancient and spare, like wide open spaces with the beginning of a storm gathering in the distance. Random middles: [name_f]Guinevere[/name_f] [name_f]Ada[/name_f], [name_f]Guinevere[/name_f] Esmé
[name_f]Lavinia[/name_f] - Pretty in a lacy way, but insubstantial. I personally can’t get past the [name_m]Shakespeare[/name_m] character and all that associated trauma, but I like to see other people use this name. Was it you who was considering [name_f]Lavinia[/name_f] [name_f]Blythe[/name_f] ages ago? I love that combo; [name_f]Blythe[/name_f] is the perfect complement to [name_f]Lavinia[/name_f].
[name_f]Parthenia[/name_f] - Kind of cool and intriguing. There’s something regal and Byzantine about it. I also like the similar Parthesia. Random middles: [name_f]Parthenia[/name_f] [name_f]Gemma[/name_f], [name_f]Parthenia[/name_f] [name_f]Daphne[/name_f]
[name_f]Rosamund[/name_f] - Really like it. It definitely fits the eccentric aristocrat feel—it’s buttoned-up with a dash of hidden strength. Sounds like the name of the apprentice to a steampunk mad scientist who inherits all his work and takes over. Middles: [name_f]Rosamund[/name_f] [name_f]Allegra[/name_f], [name_f]Rosamund[/name_f] [name_f]Cora[/name_f]
[name_f]Temperance[/name_f] - Sort of the same as [name_f]Garnet[/name_f], the sound is just not at all appealing to me. Like a lot of people, I think of the character from Bones. Middles: [name_f]Temperance[/name_f] [name_f]Ariadne[/name_f], [name_f]Temperance[/name_f] [name_f]Mila[/name_f]
[name_f]Thomasina[/name_f] - I like [name_f]Thomasina[/name_f] and love [name_f]Tamsin[/name_f]. Has a similar feel to [name_f]Rosamund[/name_f]—perfectly in the eccentric aristocrat zone! Middles: [name_f]Thomasina[/name_f] [name_f]Laila[/name_f], [name_f]Thomasina[/name_f] [name_f]Lucille[/name_f]
[name_f]Winifred[/name_f] - A little old-lady-ish, but has a kind of easy charm that I think could make a comeback. Middle ideas: [name_f]Winifred[/name_f] [name_f]Aria[/name_f], [name_f]Winifred[/name_f] [name_f]Bianca[/name_f]

[name_m]Algernon[/name_m] - I think of the character from The Importance of Being [name_m]Earnest[/name_m] before I think of Flowers for [name_m]Algernon[/name_m], but the name’s vibe is still an odd mix of clever/funny and sad. I like it, and the nn [name_m]Algy[/name_m] is so-ugly-it’s-cute (and fun.) Middles: [name_m]Algernon[/name_m] [name_m]Forest[/name_m], [name_m]Algernon[/name_m] [name_m]Wesley[/name_m]
[name_m]Alasdair[/name_m] - [name_u]Love[/name_u] it. Handsome and strong with a slight hint of eccentric intelligence. Middles: [name_m]Alasdair[/name_m] [name_u]Orion[/name_u], [name_m]Alasdair[/name_m] [name_m]Jago[/name_m]
Devereux - Eh. I like it as a last name, but as a first it’s over-the-top even for me. Middles: Devereux [name_m]Henry[/name_m], Devereux [name_m]Aaron[/name_m]
[name_m]Everard[/name_m] - Cool and intriguing. Definitely deserves some use. Middles: [name_m]Everard[/name_m] [name_m]Milo[/name_m], [name_m]Everard[/name_m] [name_u]Flynn[/name_u]
[name_m]Ignatius[/name_m] - Really like it. I slightly prefer [name_m]Ignacio[/name_m], because then you can get the nn [name_m]Nacho[/name_m], which can only be a plus. Either way, a great, fiery name. Middles: [name_m]Ignatius[/name_m] [name_u]Kai[/name_u], [name_m]Ignatius[/name_m] [name_u]Owen[/name_u]
[name_m]Leopold[/name_m] - I like pretty much all the [name_m]Leo[/name_m]- names, but like just plain [name_m]Leo[/name_m] best of all. Still, [name_m]Leopold[/name_m] fits the eccentric aristocrat vibe well. Middles: [name_m]Leopold[/name_m] [name_u]Everett[/name_u], [name_m]Leopold[/name_m] [name_m]Cyrus[/name_m]
[name_m]Piers[/name_m] - Totally NMS. It just feels very spoiled and indoorsy to me; I think of [name_m]Pierce[/name_m] [name_m]Hawthorne[/name_m] from Community. I’d probably pair it with something long and Italianate. Middles: [name_m]Piers[/name_m] [name_m]Antonio[/name_m], [name_m]Piers[/name_m] [name_m]Maximo[/name_m]
[name_u]Sinclair[/name_u] - I like it. It feels more like a middle than a first, but it has a nice vibe to it. Middles: [name_u]Sinclair[/name_u] [name_u]August[/name_u], [name_u]Sinclair[/name_u] [name_m]Alaric[/name_m]
[name_m]Talbot[/name_m] - Ditto [name_m]Piers[/name_m], only I like the sound even less and think of the clothing store. Middles: [name_m]Talbot[/name_m] Andrés, [name_m]Talbot[/name_m] [name_m]Nolan[/name_m]
[name_m]Wellington[/name_m] - I like it, but there’s something cute about it that would make me hesitant to use it on a human. Middles: [name_m]Wellington[/name_m] [name_u]Finn[/name_u], [name_m]Wellington[/name_m] [name_m]Jack[/name_m]
[name_m]Winston[/name_m] - Similar to [name_m]Wellington[/name_m], only without the too cute for a human reservations. I really like it. Middles: [name_m]Winston[/name_m] [name_u]Jesse[/name_u], [name_m]Winston[/name_m] [name_u]Elias[/name_u]
[name_m]York[/name_m] - [name_m]Just[/name_m] makes me think of the Wars of the Roses. For such an unusual name, it’s not very interesting (sorry if that sounds super harsh, I mean it in a neutral way, not a scathing way, haha.) Middles: [name_m]York[/name_m] [name_m]Alexander[/name_m], [name_m]York[/name_m] [name_u]Spencer[/name_u]

I love [name_f]Guinevere[/name_f], [name_f]Rosamund[/name_f], [name_f]Thomasina[/name_f], [name_m]Alasdair[/name_m], [name_m]Ignatius[/name_m] and [name_m]Leopold[/name_m] from your list!
I like long names for their nn potential.
