I read the name Edaline in a book, and I just think that it’s so pretty! What do you all think of it? For clarification, it’s pronounced ed - uh - leen.
Some questions:
- Does the book that I’m talking about (if you know what it is), come to your mind when you hear this name?
- [name_f]Do[/name_f] you prefer [name_f]Adeline[/name_f] or Edaline?
- How much would you rate it on a scale of one to ten?
- Any negative associations?
Other comments and/or suggestions are welcome as well. Thank you in advance

Ooh Edaline is really pretty. I’ve never heard of the book so I can’t help there.
I do prefer [name_f]Adeline[/name_f] but I think that’s because Edaline is new to me. I think it could grow on me
I’d rate it an 8

Nope. I’m a bibliophile and have never read this name.

I prefer [name_f]Adeline[/name_f] (ah-duh-line) but Edaline is very nice.

8, great choice
- Any negative associations?
Nope!

- Greatly prefer Edaline!
- 8/10
- Nope
It’s related really closely to [name_f]Edeline[/name_f] and [name_f]Edelie[/name_f], both of which are names I swoon over, and the pronounciation is gorgeous

I think of edam cheese, edamame, the word line. But I’m not a fan of any line names that I can think of, so I’m not an expert.

I’ve heard/read Edilean in a book some years back (prn. the same as Edaline) and I actually prefer this spelling. I don’t believe that I know the book you are referencing. I vastly prefer Edaline to [name_f]Adeline[/name_f], , and also think it’s a cute twist on a classic, but popular choice and a good feminine alternative for [name_u]Edward[/name_u] / [name_m]Edmund[/name_m] / [name_m]Edgar[/name_m] / et. al.
I would probably rate it at an 8 or 9, but if it was pronounced like ee-dah-leen or ee-dah-lynn it would be a solid 10 as I love any name that can be shortened to [name_f]Edie[/name_f] (ee-dee). Having the nickname [name_u]Eddie[/name_u] (ed-ee) would be the only negative connotation for me personally but I know a lot of people would think it was cute.

I personally LOVE the name Edaline! I too first saw this name in a book (Keeper of The Lost Cities maybe…) And I think it’s a very pretty name. The name does come to mind, but I find nothing wrong with that. I pronounce it Ed-uh-line, but your way is very pretty too! You could use a nickname such as Eddy or leave it as a full name. I think that it is much more uncommon version on Adeline, and I actually prefer it over Adeline. Definitely 10/10 and a lovely association.
