Eddy for a girl?

What do you all think about [name_m]Eddy[/name_m] (or [name_m]Eddie[/name_m]) for a girl’s name? [name_f]My[/name_f] late father’s name was [name_m]Edward[/name_m], and in the event that this is a (third) girl, I was thinking it might be a cute nod to my dad. Yay or nay? Which spelling?

Personally I would take the [name_m]Ed[/name_m] and go with [name_f]Edie[/name_f]. Different pronunciation (ee-dee), but it definitely honors an [name_m]Ed[/name_m]/[name_m]Edward[/name_m], and is a legit girl’s name.

Or perhaps [name_u]Eden[/name_u] nicknamed [name_f]Edie[/name_f]. More feminine but still a nod to [name_m]Edward[/name_m].

[name_m]Eddie[/name_m] could pass as a girls name better than [name_m]Eddy[/name_m]… I think. [name_u]Freddie[/name_u] can, so why not [name_m]Eddie[/name_m]? I like it, especially with the meaning behind it.

[name_f]Edie[/name_f] (ee-dee) also works, but you have to decided if that is a good enough association to [name_m]Edward[/name_m].

Here are other [name_m]Ed[/name_m] options.
[name_f]Edith[/name_f]
[name_u]Eden[/name_u]
[name_f]Edeline[/name_f]
Eldie
[name_f]Edda[/name_f]
[name_f]Eda[/name_f]
[name_f]Edna[/name_f]

[name_f]My[/name_f] favorites are [name_m]Eddie[/name_m], [name_f]Eda[/name_f], [name_f]Edie[/name_f], Eldie, and [name_f]Edith[/name_f].

I’d go with [name_f]Edie[/name_f]. [name_u]Eden[/name_u] is my favorite way to get that nickname.

I would only do it as a double name.

[name_m]Eddie[/name_m] is a sweet nickname, but I would go the full hog with [name_f]Frederica[/name_f] for the full one. I am slightly biased, however…

I like full name [name_f]Edith[/name_f]; nickname [name_f]Edie[/name_f] (ee-dee.)

I think [name_f]Edeline[/name_f] nn [name_m]Eddie[/name_m] might work out a little bit nicer
