Eden, Noah, or Hazel?

Hello everyone! I’m always writing stories/looking for names. Mainly because I myself am looking for a new name! Currently I’ve been going by [name_f]Hazel[/name_f] for a while. I like that it’s short and familiar, but not too common (it’s growing in popularity for babies, but I’m a teen, so not too common in my age group.)

[name_f][/name_f]

However, it’s been a bit of a struggle. I just don’t know if [name_f]Hazel[/name_f] is “the one.” I’d like to change my name in the future, so I was looking at some others so I can try them out before making a final choice. The other name I went by for a little bit was [name_f]Eden[/name_f]. I liked that it was more on the masculine/gender neutral side. The first [name_f]Eden[/name_f] I ever knew was a boy, so I always thought it as a boy’s name. However I saw some forums saying it was a modern name, which kind of put me off.

[name_f][/name_f]

I like [name_f]Eden[/name_f] and [name_m]Noah[/name_m] because they’re more international. While maybe not standard names in a lot of places, the pronunciation is easy in a LOT of different countries, not just Europe, where I’m planning on moving too.

[name_f][/name_f]

So, nameberries, the question is: which name do you like best and why? [name_f]Eden[/name_f], [name_m]Noah[/name_m], or [name_f]Hazel[/name_f]? For some visuals, I have brown hair cut short & spiky (growing out a buzz,) freckles, green eyes, I’m starting university. And if you do like these names, what middle do you recommend? I don’t care if the middle name is feminine, I just wanted a slightly more masculine first name. Tysm!

To me, I’ve only ever known girl Eden’s. I would say by your description you provided, I would name you [name_f]Quinn[/name_f], [name_m]Rowan[/name_m] or [name_m]Rory[/name_m]. They’re more masculine-leaning Gender-Neutral (in my eyes at least) [name_m]Rowan[/name_m] [name_m]Noah[/name_m] or [name_m]Noah[/name_m] [name_f]Quinn[/name_f] sound great.

[name_f]Eden[/name_f] seems to really fit your vibe! I will mention, if you’re from an English-speaking country looking to move to mainland Europe you may have to adjust to a new pronunciation (most of Europe would say eh-den instead of the [name_f]English[/name_f] ee-den) but if you like both forms of the name, that’s not an issue! And that’d be an issue with [name_f]Hazel[/name_f] too, anyway. [name_f]Eden[/name_f] is[name_f][/name_f] a modern name, although it doesn’t feel overly trendy. I guess it has to do with how much it’d bother you to have a more modern name! Are you specifically looking for something classic/vintage?

[name_f][/name_f]

[name_m]Noah[/name_m] is [name_f][/name_f] 100% a male name to me, not gender neutral. [name_m]Even[/name_m] if it was used in a neutral way, it’d feel very modern on a girl, which you said is not quite the vibe you’re going for!

[name_f][/name_f]

Some ideas of names with a gender neutral vibe that feel less modern: [name_m]Charlie[/name_m], [name_m]Laurie[/name_m], [name_m]Ollie[/name_m], [name_f]Ro[/name_f] (could be short for a bunch of [name_f]Ro[/name_f]- names, from [name_f]Rosie[/name_f] to [name_f]Romilly[/name_f] to Rowena), [name_f]Rue[/name_f], [name_f]Laine[/name_f], [name_m]Robin[/name_m] (but almost exclusively male in mainland Europe), [name_f]Lou[/name_f], [name_f]Billie[/name_f], [name_m]Kit[/name_m], [name_f]Sasha[/name_f]

from your description and everything you said, i think eden really, suits you! plus i’m biased, i love that name.

honestly, i think all the options are modern names, but, since, eden is a lot less popular than the other two, I’d say hazel or noah would be considered more modern names

i loved the previous suggestion of sasha for you as well

other suggestions: remy, rowan, kai, asher/ash, jules, robin, syd/sid, alexis/lexie, jesse, lane/laney/laine, billie, shiloh, aria/ari, ellis, nova, indie/indy, sky/skye

I love [name_f]Hazel[/name_f] !it feels fresh to me [name_f][/name_f], well known and has some really cool nickname options

[name_f][/name_f]

[name_m]Hayes[/name_m] / [name_m]Haze[/name_m]
[name_f][/name_f][name_m]Hale[/name_m] / [name_m]Hal[/name_m]
[name_f][/name_f][name_f]Ale[/name_f]

@atomicginge I don’t mind the pronounciation difference, as it’s not huge to me. But I love the suggestions of Ro and Laurie!

@tallemaja Thank you so much! funny enough, I actually considered Sasha in the beginning. I don’t mind my name being more “modern,” I just wanted to stray away from names like Ayshliegh or Braxton.

@vida thank you for the suggestions! i do love jesse, it feels very 80s/90s to me. and billie is soooo cute!

@Ehrob1 My friends call me Haze! I never considered spelling it Hayes, I do like that too.

Thank you all for the suggestions. I’ve narrowed it down a bit more, and I’m now debating with Eden. I love love love Noah…but I might have to save that for a story character instead.

Hazel is lovely - cosy and charming but with a bit of sass too. I would say, of all of them it leans a bit more feminine than the others, but it does give you more masc leaning nn Hayes / Haze.

Eden is cool! It feels contemporary but well established - I’ve met one Eden (b) and a few girls. In terms of pronunciation, I’ve only encountered EE-dens but I know EH-den (like eh in egg) can be used too.

Noah feels popular and versatile - unisex though more masc leaning - gentle but solid. Out of interest, how would you want it pronounced? It’s fairly well-used across most of Europe (mostly with the H, sometimes as Noa though?)

I think Eden and Noah sound cool for you, especially if you want something more masc leaning?

Maybe something like Eden Hazel or Noah Hazel could work, if you like Hazel still?

Two cents from a [name_f]Hazel[/name_f] here! :waving_hand:

[name_f][/name_f]

I’m a cis woman [name_f]Hazel[/name_f], and I agree with others that [name_f]Hazel[/name_f] feels the most femme-leaning name on your shortlist (though, of course, I am biased). It’s such[name_f][/name_f] a great name. I love wearing it! I’m in my twenties so never have met a peer named [name_f]Hazel[/name_f], which I like.

[name_f][/name_f]

[name_m]Noah[/name_m] feels quite masculine to me (maybe [name_f]Noa[/name_f] less so)? And [name_f]Eden[/name_f] falls in the middle!

[name_f][/name_f]

These three are all really lovely. I say stick with one for now that you like, change it if it feels necessary later. [name_f]Hazel[/name_f] is perfectly relatable in Europe and the US. [name_m]Hayes[/name_m] spelling as a nickname is fun! I’ve always been [name_f]Hazy[/name_f] / [name_m]Haze[/name_m]. [name_m]Hayes[/name_m] feels more masc in a cool way for you. :star:

I love [name_f]Eden[/name_f]

I think it’s cool and beautiful at the same time
