Edwin

[name_m]Hi[/name_m] Everyone,

Not pregnant, just collecting names for the future. [name_f]My[/name_f] style of names are simple and traditional, with nicknames. I like [name_m]Henry[/name_m], [name_u]Charlie[/name_u], [name_m]Lachlan[/name_m] ([name_m]Lochlan[/name_m]?), and [name_m]Edwin[/name_m]. Whenever I tell people this list, everyone likes the first 3 but then they make a face at [name_m]Edwin[/name_m], and suggest [name_m]Edward[/name_m] instead. There’s nothing wrong with [name_m]Edward[/name_m], I just prefer the softness of [name_m]Edwin[/name_m].

What do you think? Is there something bad about [name_m]Edwin[/name_m] that I’m missing? [name_m]Edwin[/name_m] might be my favourite name, but I worry that I’ve missed something! Middle name would probably be [name_u]Jay[/name_u], after my Dad.

Appreciate you taking the time to consider this

I really like [name_m]Edwin[/name_m]! I’m personally not a big [name_m]Edward[/name_m] fan – I agree that there’s something so sweet about [name_m]Edwin[/name_m]’s softness.

Edwin [name_u]Jay[/name_u] is very handsome! I don’t think there’s anything you’re missing. [name_m]Edwin[/name_m] would also make a great brother for [name_m]Henry[/name_m], [name_u]Charlie[/name_u], or [name_m]Lachlan[/name_m]/Locklan.

I love [name_m]Edwin[/name_m]! I think it’s’ so cute and it has a lovely sound. It’s more unique than [name_m]Henry[/name_m] and [name_u]Charlie[/name_u] but still a familiar name with sweet nicknames. Another option is [name_m]Edmund[/name_m]/Edison

I think [name_m]Edwin[/name_m] is very handsome it’s a soft choice that feels vintage & whimsical. I think [name_m]Edwin[/name_m] is a great ‘[name_m]Ed[/name_m]’ choice I really like this name. [name_m]Edwin[/name_m] [name_u]Jay[/name_u] is cool.

Edwin is great! It feels softer and a bit less heavy than [name_m]Edward[/name_m] to me–I definitely prefer it. [name_m]Edwin[/name_m] [name_u]Jay[/name_u] would be a great name–classic but unexpected and with plenty of fun nickname potential!

Gosh I love [name_m]Edwin[/name_m] so much! [name_f]My[/name_f] parents don’t care much for it, but I don’t really care. It came up in a conversation with my boyfriend, and he was like “[name_m]Edwin[/name_m]? That actually sounds cool!” That, of course, sealed the deal for me.

I love this! It was on my list (we had a girl in the end). I think its a good, classic name. [name_f]My[/name_f] great grandfather was [name_m]Edwin[/name_m]. Its unusual but recognisable. We also liked [name_m]Edmund[/name_m]. Nickname [name_m]Eddie[/name_m] is just so cute and perhaps [name_m]Ed[/name_m] or [name_m]Edwin[/name_m] when they’re older. It also goes nicely with so many middle names and because it’s a classic you can pair with another classic or something different and modern. - [name_m]Edwin[/name_m] [name_m]John[/name_m], [name_m]Edwin[/name_m] [name_u]Fox[/name_u], [name_m]Edwin[/name_m] [name_u]Zephyr[/name_u] etc etc

I prefer both [name_m]Edmund[/name_m] and [name_m]Edwin[/name_m] to [name_m]Edward[/name_m]. I think it’s just less frequently used and your first two names are fairly classic, [name_m]Edward[/name_m] is the most traditional of the [name_m]Ed[/name_m] names so it makes sense people would suggest it to you. I like that [name_m]Edwin[/name_m] allows for all the classic [name_m]Ed[/name_m] nicknames plus you could also use [name_u]Win[/name_u]

I love the name [name_m]Edwin[/name_m]! I agree that it is a better alternative to [name_m]Edward[/name_m]. I also love [name_m]Edmond[/name_m] and [name_m]Edgar[/name_m], but [name_m]Edwin[/name_m] is so sweet  It’s not missing anything! [name_m]Edwin[/name_m] [name_u]Jay[/name_u] is very handsome and the brightness of [name_u]Jay[/name_u] balances out the older feel of [name_m]Edwin[/name_m].

Another lover of [name_m]Edwin[/name_m] here!! :raising_hand_woman:t2: It feels so bookish and spunky, I love it.

As far as [name_m]Ed[/name_m]- names go I’d rank them
[name_m]Edmund[/name_m] > [name_m]Edwin[/name_m] > [name_m]Edgar[/name_m] > [name_u]Edison[/name_u] > [name_m]Edward[/name_m]
(I’m still back and forth on whether [name_m]Edwin[/name_m] or [name_m]Edmund[/name_m] should be in 1st place though)

It’s more interesting than [name_m]Edward[/name_m] whilst not being unfamiliar

I actually prefer [name_m]Edwin[/name_m]! People who aren’t into names probably just aren’t expecting it next to such widely-used traditional choices. [name_m]Edwin[/name_m] has the same history and elegance of the others, while feeling more original.

Edwin is a “win” in my book. (I’m sorry, couldn’t help it!)

I actually really like [name_m]Edwin[/name_m]. Along with [name_m]Edmund[/name_m] I kind of have them on my - it’s too bad it doesn’t mesh with the rest of my naming style cause I really like it list. Go [name_m]Edwin[/name_m]! :blue_heart:

I love [name_m]Edwin[/name_m]! It’s probably my favourite [name_m]Ed[/name_m]- name. [name_m]Edwin[/name_m] [name_u]Jay[/name_u] is such a cool combo! It balances out the softness of [name_m]Edwin[/name_m] and makes his name sound more modern.
