Effie nn for Fiona

I know, I know…back again. [name]Effie[/name] had been suggested back when I was looking for nicknames for my daughter [name]Fiona[/name]. At first I thought it didn’t really make sense. But now I am starting to really think [name]Effie[/name] is adorable. [name]Do[/name] you think it’s a natural nickname for [name]Fiona[/name]? I know you can use whatever you like really…but I do like it to make a bit of sense. I haven’t been able to find a nickname for [name]Fiona[/name] that I love and as I’ve mentioned before, I’m struggling w/ the name [name]Fiona[/name] altogether. So do you think [name]Effie[/name] would sound normal as a nickname for [name]Fiona[/name] or is it too big a stretch??

I think [name]Effie[/name] sounds like a very natural nickname for [name]Fiona[/name] (and any name with the “fee” sound in it).

Ok thanks! I hadn’t thought of the fee sound in [name]Effie[/name] (duh). Was thinking [name]Effie[/name] more suited names with the eff/eph sound in them.

I think it works fine

The Fi- sound and the initial F lend themselves nicely to using [name]Effie[/name]. It’s a fantastic nickname for [name]Fiona[/name].

Thanks! Excited to try

It totally works, but I understand your hesitation. It isn’t the most literal choice, which I think would be [name]Fifi[/name]. I think [name]Effie[/name] makes more sense on a little girl today…same vibe as [name]Hattie[/name] or [name]Ellie[/name]. I don’t think anyone would be confused if you suggested [name]Effie[/name]!

I think [name]Effie[/name] as a nickname for [name]Fiona[/name] is brilliant!

I don’t see it as a stretch at all! I think [name]Effie[/name] is adorable as is [name]Fiona[/name] xx

I’m a ‘[name]Fiona[/name]’ and I think [name]Effie[/name] is lovely! [name]Just[/name] for another idea, my nickname is Fibie (pronounced [name]Phoebe[/name]) xx

Oh nice to meet another [name]Fiona[/name]! It’s a beautiful name. My struggle has just been I guess it feels so grown up for a little baby…and I’ve wanted something a little cuter feeling. Fibie has a similar feel, very cute. I like the ie sound at the end of names. I love [name]Effie[/name] which is funny b/c as a kid I had several teachers named [name]Effie[/name] and at the time thought it was the ugliest most old woman name haha. Now I find it adorable for a little girl. And I agree w/ Taz, [name]Fifi[/name] is the most obvious choice for a nn which I’m not a big fan of.

[name]Fiona[/name]'s a gorgeous name but I really, really dislike [name]Effie[/name].

Definitely use [name]Effie[/name] as a nn if you like it! Another possible nn is [name]Fina[/name] which I like a lot. It means something like ‘the pretty one’ in Swedish.

[name]Fina[/name] is very sweet, I agree! I find it hard to call her anything but [name]Fiona[/name] to be honest. My first daughter never had any nicknames b/c her name is Mhairi, just doesn’t need one. I just never feel natural when I try and call her [name]Effie[/name] or any of the other nicknames I’ve tried. But maybe as she gets older (she’s 5 months) it will feel more natural.

Yes, that good work.

I prefer the nn [name]Fia[/name] or [name]Fina[/name] for [name]Fiona[/name]. But [name]Effie[/name] would work fine too.
