I really like it, how about you? Or is Elena better? If I ever used this as a first name the Nm would be [name]Laney[/name]/[name]Lanie[/name] or [name]Ellie[/name]. Pronunciations I say E-lena and E-laina; but I’ve seen Elena pronounced Elaina, I’m a little confused.
I much, much prefer [name]Elena[/name]. Its much classier and cleaner looking. I have an [name]Elena[/name], which we pronounce [name]Elena[/name]. Sometimes, people pronounce it wrong, but after one correction, they get it and the mistake is rarely made again. I’d go with [name]Elena[/name] nn [name]Lainey[/name].
[name]Elena[/name] can be either el-AY-nah or el-EHN-ah, but I’ve only ever know people who pronunce it like you pronunce [name]Elaina[/name]. I think [name]Elena[/name] is gorgeous and beautiful and elegant and feminine. I love it a lot. [name]Elaina[/name] looks somewhat dumbed down and tacky to me, where as the [name]Elena[/name] spelling holds all of those qualities that I like. [name]Leni[/name], pronunced like [name]Laney[/name], is a gorgeous nickname.
[name]Elena[/name] is beautiful; [name]Elaina[/name] makes it look like you’re trying to make it easier for people to pronounce.
I say [name]Elena[/name] and [name]Elaina[/name] the same, I didn’t know there was a diff way to say [name]Elena[/name]!
I like [name]Elena[/name] best too. I pronounce them the same. [name]Love[/name] this name btw!
I much prefer [name]Elena[/name], too! And yes, it is traditionally said eh-[name]LAY[/name]-nah. I absolutely love [name]Leni[/name], too, although I would say it like [name]Lenny[/name], not [name]Laney[/name].
[name]Elena[/name] for sure. At first I thought [name]Elaina[/name] was [name]Eliana[/name]…I think people might accidentally call her [name]Eliana[/name] with that spelling. I love the nn [name]Lainey[/name] or [name]Lena[/name]; [name]Ellie[/name] is far too popular for me.
[name]Elena[/name] is pronounced eh-lay-na, the same way as [name]Elaina[/name]. It is very frequently used in Italian and Spanish speaking cultures. Like previous posters, I think [name]Elena[/name] is much better.
Absolutely gorgeous name! [name]Elena[/name] made it to our top 3 but was cut out due to it being too close to big sister [name]Elise[/name]. I absolutely love it though and was really really sad to see it go! I’d be so happy to see it on another sweet little girl.
[name]Elena[/name] definitely.
If you want the “ai” spelling I would go with [name]Alaina[/name].
I love [name]Elena[/name] pronounced [name]Elaina[/name]. I think most people would get the pronunciation right, although of course you’d have some to correct. I think it’s a beautiful name and I love the nicknames associated with it. Good choice!
[name]Elena[/name] is pretty and classy. Not a fan of the [name]Elaina[/name] spelling.
I agree with all pp that [name]Elena[/name] is the better spelling for eh-[name]LAY[/name]-na. If you like [name]Elaina[/name], have you considered [name]Elaine[/name] (pronounced eh-[name]LAYN[/name])? You could still use those nn’s [name]Lainey[/name] or [name]Ellie[/name]. Very cute!
Personally, I like the spelling [name]Elena[/name]. This morning I met a 6-week old baby girl named [name]Alaina[/name], & I was a bit surprised by the spelling of it.
I definitely prefer [name]Elena[/name], which I pronounce the same as [name]Elaina[/name].
Wow… I’ve never heard of pronouncing [name]Elaina[/name] and [name]Elena[/name] the same way! I have a Greek friend named [name]Elena[/name] and her name is pronounced E-[name]LEN[/name]-A, with the emphasis on the first E. Like the name [name]Ellen[/name] with an “a” on the end.
[name]Elaina[/name] and [name]Elena[/name] are both very pretty. Which spelling to use would depend on what kind of names you would likely use for siblings. For [name]Elena[/name], I would expect either timeless names or even exotic (Spanish, Italian, Slavic, etc.) names. As for [name]Elaina[/name], I would expect names that are neither fashionable nor out of fashion, but somewhere in between. So perhaps something like [name]Jacqueline[/name], [name]Mary[/name], [name]Diana[/name], [name]Laura[/name], [name]Lucille[/name], [name]Theresa[/name], [name]Thomas[/name], [name]Robert[/name], [name]Victor[/name], [name]Vincent[/name], etc.
